I live in the Blood Red state of Oklahoma, where Union Busting is considered by local employers as a recreational sport.
Would-be unions and the workers trying to form them are broken EVERY DAY here. Innumerable people, including myself, have been fired for so much as thinking about unionization.
Here, addressing your concerns with management, or even expressing certain ideas to the wrong co-worker, WILL-not "can" - WILL result in termination.
❤
ОтветитьSolidarity forever ☭ Caelan✊
ОтветитьWHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO MAKE MONEY IF THEY WON’T FOLLOW THE RULES all of their profits should be going somewhere else as long as they are not in compliance with regulations. meanwhile if i set up a booth at my local park and started selling t shirts i guarantee there would be a cop there to stop me from making money within two hours.
the way howie thought he was gonna get canonized bc the senegalese dude could live in a house 😭😭 another great one thanks cae 🖤
I'm just watching it now because I was gone, but thank you so much for covering this! I knew Starbucks was awful to unions and workers but didn't realize how bad. Also hoping my comment will do a tiny bit for the algorithm.
Ответитьworking at starbucks literally led me to nearly attempting sui* and the moment i quit that job my mental health increased back to normal. i was not depressed before that, and was excited about the job. have never been Anywhere else that made me feel that way. i had an exceptionally bad boss who was bigoted and racist af and who stole tips from us, but the entirity of sb's upper management doesn't give a shit about any of that.
sb workers are hired as 'baristas' but actually work about ten different jobs that should all be their own fucking things. the amount of work you do for the money you get is fucking criminal, and almost all the customers treat you like utter trash because they see you as 'just another fast food worker' and have no idea that you're working so fkn many jobs at once. add understaffing to that, plus most managers purposefully scheduling hours in ways that force employees to stay on their toes and barely scrape by, and you get an utter nightmare.
seriously i cannot stress this enough if you want a quick job go get a job at mcdonald's or literally anywhere else. i'm queer and no amount of faux-progressive bs from sb's management could ever make up for what employees go thru and how you're expected to basically shell your life over to the company as though you're working a much higher paying wage job.
seriously. be kind to yourself and do not work for this company. you will fkn hate your life and legitimately lose so much faith in humanity because you see the worst people ever constantly.
lol why am I not surprised this guy is gay and the one that wanted unionization
ОтветитьThat's a pretty sick S.B skeleton logo ngl
ОтветитьLittler, when "literally Hitler" is bad for PR.
ОтветитьI need to talk to you off-line regarding having a "viewing".
ОтветитьMy lord I knew it was bad but I didn’t know it was THIS BAD
ОтветитьSome companies just shouldn't have money, these are the people making it for them and all they do it step on them every step of the way
ОтветитьYour presentation reminds me of Alexis from schitt’s creek 😂
ОтветитьI'm a video game worker and while of course the focus of the video is starbuck's conditions, a lot of the more general statements really spoke to me as things get tougher and we try to improve our work conditions. Thank you for your hard work. <3
ОтветитьIt's interesting how, in the UK, they haven't had a "liberal" reputation for about 10 years since they were found to have paid no tax on sales in the country 😅
ОтветитьTeamsters rep denied me entry, coworkers warned me he was with managment, i was a fool, i thought a union rep would no way break the law and be rewarded for it. (Go unions btw but fuck management)
ОтветитьWow! Your experience sounds like mine with my current company I work for! It masks itself as a family owned business that cares for its workers but corporate and upper management leave the department managers to fend for themselves. The pay isn't even competitive. If you're curious, the company rhymes with Gatural Nrocers. 🤔
ОтветитьIve never known Starbucks as anything other than Amazon but for coffee. Maybe its just from not being american but i am seriosuly shocked it has a "progressive reputation" to lose beyond trivial things like cups that dont say happy holidays instead of merry christmas
Ответитьlol 10 years at starbucks
ОтветитьMy favorite thing about Starbucks 10 years ago was how they'd have me work 6 hours of overtime one week and then short me 6 hours the next week so I never got overtime, found out later it was to the letter overtime pay avoidance.
ОтветитьThis is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen
ОтветитьThis is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen
ОтветитьComplimentary engagement
ОтветитьGood on you. My husband works at Target, and I'm hoping they unionize soon.
ОтветитьThe set design was crazy
ОтветитьIm sorry but my ADD has my brain all twisted up at "They burned at the steak the man who invented fire." How? If they killed him for making fire how did they themselves make the fire to burn him with, and isnt that enherently contradictory on its face anyway? Did they wait till he taught them to make fire before calling him a wizard and then making fire to burn him with?
Im laughing way too hard at trying to figure those mental gymnastics out lol
This set is actually MYSTICAL i love it so much.
Ответитьso he is the roy kroc of coffee
Ответитьthere is no left or right when it comes to a company and money, it's ether theirs or will be theirs
ОтветитьWow this company is even more comically evil than I imagined
ОтветитьI find it shocking that people can just lose their healthcare because it’s tied to a job. The U.K. is a bin fire in so many ways but we are SO lucky to have the National Health Service and should do everything to protect it. Let Republicans sneer and call it ‘socialism’. The NHS proves socialism is a good thing!
ОтветитьSo my videos were on shuffle and luckily i came across Caelan! Literally fav creator now
Ответить❤
ОтветитьSo starbucks dude pulled a mcdonalds... welp
ОтветитьHere via Respect the Dead - also am pro labor and live in Seattle
ОтветитьKind of minor, but the way Schultz referred to workers with "which" instead of "who" feels...Loaded
Ответить"venti paternalism no room" made me laugh.
ОтветитьI just started working at Starbucks late July and my store unionized just before I got there. The culture that has created has made the transition to working there pretty smooth. I feel like my coworkers have my back. I just wanted to say thank you. We're working on ratifying a contract now and we think we'll have it done at year's end. Thank you so much. I appreciate you and everyone who fought to make me and all the current baristas lives better❤
Edit: Spelling
I love the set u made but I was really hoping the mugs with the upside-down skeleton starbucks logo were real 😅 I'm not an intellectual property lawyer but I would hope that you could actually sell those because of like fair use and parody and stuff. idk. I'd buy one if you sell them, is what I'm saying
ОтветитьA beloved family member just helped their store unionize. Now they want to be a bargaining delegate. I am proud of them but also very very worried.
ОтветитьThis job was sO fUn. I miss the free sugar.
ОтветитьAs a person who's never left my room my entire life, but I was born in the United States of America, so naturally I'm something of an expert on all things, ever, globally! (Just trust me, bro.)
So definitely don't feel a need to fact-check me on this very insightful point. You're saying "café" with 2 syllables? And that can't possibly be right! It doesn't even sound Americanglish. 🙄
I'm pretty sure it actually sounds like "safe", or "vase", a word which certainly is only pronounced one way. (Y'know, like "read".)
I'm dubious that it even has that weird accent, it's probably spelled "cafe", and so now I'm going to say it totally is.
I don't remember what I was saying, and that's probably your fault. I am very smart.
