I'm so very sorry you had to go through this. I'm preparing to get rat baby boys in a few weeks, plus I'm a vet tech who works with dogs and cats. I hadn't thought much about diseases I needed to worry about cross contamination with. I definitely plan to start researching this topic. I won't let your baby rats experience be in vain. You need to get another rat for him especially already being exposed to a group long term and them passing which I truly am sorry for u have three boys that are my world

I’m so sorry love…. I had a rat for a pet when I was a little kid…. We didn’t know anything like we know now and there are so many things I regret. He had a huge cage with lots of toys…. the best food, tons of love from all of us, lots of free time and deep bedding… the big mistake we made in the early 90s was that I didn’t know that he needed a friend. He lived for about 2 1/2 years and his name was wizard. I remember one day he started getting really slow and I noticed some blood coming from his ear. I wrapped him up in a little blanket and my mum drove me down to our local vet. As I was sitting in the waiting room, there was a woman next to me with her dog and I was sitting there with this little blanket in my hand, sobbing my eyes out. The woman next to me asked me if I was waiting for my dog. If my dog was being put to sleep, and I looked at her and I said no it’s my rat and I held up the little blanket bundle. The lady just looked at me like I was stupid, but I held wizard when they put him to sleep and I never sobbed so hard as a little kid as I did on that day.. I honestly can’t imagine what you have been through, and how difficult it must’ve been. Hopefully time can hear you. Im so sorry Love ❤️

I'm not sure I could cope

hi im EXTREMELY concerned for my mischief , after watching this video a couple months ago my dog was given bordetella oral without my knowledge or consent a day ago . i contacted my very very reliable exotics vet who i trust very much and she told me that it was entirely okay to keep them around each other as long as the dog did not lick the rats for 24 hours . she said that as long as my dog is not showing symptoms of respiratory illness it is just fine until she does . my dog has been taken away from my home and completely quarantined and we have already used your advice as we saw this video prior . is my vet possibly wrong ? im just worried my vet may be incorrect and therefore giving me dangerous information and if so , i would need a new vet . please let me know your thoughts im very very worried thank you so much for this video
