There's been a lot of videos on this device, but you don't get something for nothing, so this will definitely reduce the fuel economy of your vehicle. Since it is a DC charge, it's definitely cheaper than charging from AC.

You left out the impact on the alternator such as heat generated at different rpms.

Nice unit.. but only good for ecoflow units.... if and when can use on other powers stations or othe manufacturers make the same I will buy!

I'm curious if that would work on an Ev. There is a 12v battery and that seems to be the connection.

I saw 2 different Electric Cars using this device fine.

Just leave the switch on, so the High Voltage traction battery is charging your 12v battery. You don't need to drive to use it that method.

Hello, thank you for this video. just one question: with an XT 150 to XT 60 adapter can we connect the EcoFlow charger to a battery of another brand (Bluetti)?

You better hook that up to your truck, like your going to use it, to see how it actually performs. A simulation like that isn't always accurate. Very few alternators can keep up with the car's own power needs plus another 800W. I good size truck alternator is only around 200W. You'd need 4 of them, or some of the extremely expensive aftermarket alternators to even come close.

You are making a problem where one does not really exist.

I'm like you, we drive a lot of trails and go explore a region when off grid. Solar doesn't make sense for me, I've been slow charging from the 12v plug and this device solves all my power issues.

So are you saying that will charge it completely full just by driving 1-2 hrs?

My use case employs a Delta 2 with the Delta 2 Extra daisychained, so my aux battery port is taken. Any thoughts on this use case?

Would this count as "fast charging" which may shorten the lifespan of the battery? Forgive my ignorance... I am still learning these systems.

Thanks for a good and informative video. I was visiting the US in 2019 and there was a lot of power drops. They said that the power companies turn off the power when the bush fires comes so that whole towns gets no electricity? Is this right? Or is the US power grid too weak to supply power?

The EV's depend on their internal DC-DC charger to keep the low voltage battery topped off. Some are good some are pretty weak. Research to find out what it can handle.

I try to never buy anything with proprietary cables or connectors. Also, imagine arriving at your destination with a full power station and a fried alternator. A running vehicle is generally my most important survival necessity. I'm not doing anything that can compromise that. It's not worth the risk.

Here’s the deal.. alternators are not designed for constant use charging. They’re designed to recharge and recap your battery and maintain the electricity used for your cars factory installed electronics. Excessive use of the alternator like this , can cause it to overheat and burn off the coating on the copperwindings shorting the overall life.

I’m at a loss as to why anyone would buy this when a battery separator, 8 wire and AGM marine battery is half the cost.

Something wrong if it take so long to charge a ecoflow. I have renogy 700w inverter in my truck with 6ga copper cable my alternator is 150 amps. Plenty to power inverter without battery drain. Its kind of important not to put too much stress on your alternator.

Question… should I get a high output alternator to aide in power for accessories.

lol, the purpose of having solar capability is to be able to have power in shtf grid down situation. This country is on the precipice and solar will work when society and the grid has gone chaotic. You can't just drive around to charge your power station when shtf.

You were paid for your review. All real mechanics will tell you this thing will destroy your alternator.

Couldn’t you charge a River unit (or anything else) through the Delta’s AC/DC outlets as it’s being charged with the Alternator charger? 😊

This device doesn’t entirely do away with the need for solar. What if you running your fridge 24/7 and you in a warm climate like Texas. You will need to run your vehicle at least 1-2 hours per day. Maybe you can skip a day if the weather one day gets cold. But unless you’re driving your vehicle 1-2 hours a day, you still need to either plug into ac, use solar or run your vehicle daily.

Now don’t get me wrong. I love the fact we can charge at 800 watts from our vehicle, and I will install one of these in my vehicle for sure.

You can set the battery voltage you want to monitor. For example, if your setup, you can set it to 12V instead of 13V and it will then charge at 800w until it slowly drops as the car battery drops until it stops below 12V input.
