Family and friends who are not prepared can be your worst enemies. They may feel entitled since they are 'family!' Lack of preparation does not create a crisis for those with the presence of mind to be ready for whatever comes their way. Be prepared for fireworks when you say no!

When approached, I think I would say something like "I was hoping you were bringing ME food/water." Store any food preps away from cupboards and leave only a few cans that you could split between them and you. That way, I have shared but not left them with the thought of coming back or telling others.

I'm the only one who preps in my extended family when the shtf situation arrives. I just know they will all be at my door for help. I tell them and tell them. But they just raise there eyes. They have victim written all over them. Truthfully I give up trying to help them.

If people ever say "when things go down I'm coming to you" ask them "well what are you bringing with you?"

This is not an easy subject. Just isn't. Our way of handling this is to try our best to get friends and family to prepare...and letting them know that WE will not be a resource if and when SHTF. It is up to them, squarely on their backs, to begin to prepare now. If folks come knocking, they'll try to blame the prepared for their own demise. Funny how folks operate!

So this may sound bad and you may all judge me. But I’ve already told my half siblings that they can’t come tome for help when SHTF. I’ve told them about prepping and getting ready for SHTF. They aren’t my responsibility. If they show up. I’ll give them a can of beets and tell them to pound sand. (FYI I don’t talk to them anymore since our dad died in 2021)

One way to deal with this situation is to barter; I can provide XYZ if you can help me ________ (dig a latrine, remove trash and burn it, fix a faucet, etc) The other thing my wife and I have discussed is to set aside 10% of our preps to give/trade to people who come to us. It's like tithing to the church. (NOTE ammo wouldn't be something I'd trade/give to anyone) I'd never want that ammo being used against me or mine.

Watch all the preppers who had all their stock of food and water and thought their were ready for anything until those hurricane went by and swept it away , don’t you think they aren’t looking at their families and friends and us for help .

I wouldn't doubt that governments would confiscate food and supplies. If you frequent prepping websites, I imagine you're already on a list.

They better have something to contribute toward. No freeloading on my watch. I work in corrections and have grown accustom to denying requests on the spot, often for trivial nonsense which is definitely not prioritized with the buttload of stuff we really need to take care of.

I tell my 3 kids and all together 12 grandkids and I know some of my grandkids are to young to prepare, but my kids think my wife and I are crazy. So I told them if they come and I let them stay they had better bring the items that I have told them to bring and as much as they have. I'm 60 and disabled from the military and I'm my wife is 69. And if they stay, they will be doing a lot of the work. Like gardening, and the harder things that we can't. And my middle child and her family live with us. Its a touchy subject around are house. And we have been preparing since 2011. They think we are wasting money. But I tell her I would rather have it and not need it. Instead of need it and not have it.

QUESTION: What would you do if a family member fell asleep on watch??? I was thinking of sendind that person packing, but they know what you have on your property. And then they tell you that they will tell people what you have??? Let me know please. I need different ideas than what I have.

NO!!! YOU were warned on multiple levels and occasions. YOU didnt prepare. YOU thought I was crazy. YOU were told to prepare. I told ALL of YOU close relatives to prepare. YOU chose to suffer. I told YOU I was not the safehaven when SHTF. I told YOU if YOU do come running best bring supplies with YOU. YOU didn't do anything I suggested. Tough on YOU.

This is another one of your great videos and family and friends yeah that can be a big problem especially if they don´t have done any preparations by themselves. And yes, survival is messy i agree with you about that one it is not easy to turn down friends and family but you have to do it to keep your own family going. And it will be tough and hard times and it will be tough for everyone even if you have preps in order. I have shared you out as usual and a 👍as well and i have also subscribed to your newsletter as well and i have downloaded your e-book as well.

don't give anyone anything in shtf! I find so much good camping gear that is left behind by homeless people that are given the gear by charity and they just waste the chit. when I want a new tarp I head to a homeless camp and snag one from there. watch it tho. when you lift the tarps there are usually a pile of junky needles left behind. the amount of trash is another thing.
so in closing keep your chit for yourself PERIOD. Family my ass, huh

You only need ¼ of an acre to sustain a family of 5 with fresh produce. If you dont think your community can convert their lifestyle to be like the Amish, your bloodline may cease when SHTF..
Extra acreage would be great for extra farm animals. Get with your cousins to buy land with more acreage and divide it for cheaper than yall could individually for a smaller piece of parcel😉(1acre/$30k) or (100acres undeveloped off grid/$100k - 50 cousins / like minded friends - $2k/acre)
You shall all be like the minutemen from Concord to defend your land and surrounding territory until law & order through a government faction is reestablished, necessary evil.

The author/narrator places way too much value on compassion. It might make YOU feel better, but when the belly button hits the backbone words are neither nutritious or filling. NO amount of "I wish I could give more" will keep them from coming back. The only answer is OPSEC and a good poker face.

You will have to harden your hearts and make hard decisions. Because it's not only a matter of spreading already limited resources even thinner. You simply cannot afford to have people around who do not know how to conduct themselves. That right there will get you and them killed faster than a New York minute. Noise, poor light discipline, bringing others that you do not know into your AO.

I'm a former Royal Marine commando so dealing with aggressive callers is within my ability.
Dealing with vulnerable visitors, needing help, is another matter entirely.
My solution is trade. Yes, of course give starving families help, as a Christian, that is a given.
They can provide firewood for instance, they can be shown what to forage to exchange for food.
Make friends and allies is better than creating resentful enemies.
