Old memories remember
ОтветитьThank you love watching these old highlights ❤
ОтветитьThis is brilliant hope you’ve found more in the archives!
Ответить😍🤗🤗
ОтветитьI remember borrowing the VHS tape of this game from the NZ Cricket Museum video collection and copying it, which I continued to use for years afterwards. I was at this game live as the Basin Reserve is only a ten-minute walk from my secondary school. My excuse was that I was undertaking a five day field trip and therefore needed time off school to undertake it. I still have the newspaper clippings from this game as well, which was highlighted by maiden test centuries from Martin Crowe and Jeremy Coney.
ОтветитьBeefy the goattttt
ОтветитьBack in the days when batsmen didn't wear helmets to fast bowlers and boundaries were the fence
Ответитьgoated
Ответить42/2 after 30 overs at the beginning of a Test match. Not sure when you will regularly (if ever) see the like again. Also interesting that Glenn Turner was using what I always thought was the ‘alternative’ pronunciation of Ian Botham’s name. Turner played English county cricket for years so presumably would know.
ОтветитьStrange that Glenn Turner, after being aware of Botham for years, and playing against him - mispronounces his name still in 1984.
ОтветитьGreat work fantastic brilliant New Zealand cricket bord 😊❤
ОтветитьBorn in 73 this is the 1st series I ever remember watching and taking seriously, great memories, absolutely loved Hadlee's run up & action,it just worked and was a thing of beauty to watch it all come together.Great series by the way
ОтветитьBotham - a pathetic slogger - came off once in a lifetime! Gower - one of the worst batsmen i have ever seen. Crowe - abolutelyely sublime!. Did the english batsmen learm anything watching him - absolutely nothing and they still play lto his day like a Druken Gower. Botham - the most pathetic bowler of all time. He bowled more pies than any other bowler in Cricket history. He only got wickets because the batsmen was so surprised to see a ball on the stumps. Botham would not be in my 10th world cricket side.
Ответитьthese innings made both jeremy coney and martin crowe. crows 100 was perfection and gave him beleif. coney batted so well with the tail...
ОтветитьDerek Randall had a monster series batting at 7. If England had consistently played him anywhere between 5 and 7 for the bulk of his career he would've done much better.
ОтветитьAwesome listening to the commentators back then. Especially Billy ibadulla. A wonderful man.
ОтветитьIt's Gatting v Hadlee.
ОтветитьOne of the worst cases of commentators curse Ive seen. "Edgar could get a big score here - 175? 225? - he has to do it if NZ are to get out of this" Edgar our next ball for 30.
ОтветитьThank you for uploading
ОтветитьLess than 6 months later and Derek Randall’s England career was over 😢
ОтветитьThanks very much for this upload NZ Cricket. Greetings from Birmingham, England. More videos like this would be much appreciated. Regards Andrew
