forgetting the lyrics and hearing nobody singing is better than hearing lyrics and seeing someone not singing insync.

Ouch, that hurt. Sorry, but he lost it when he went into the chorus. He went off-key. I understand wanting to support a singer you like, but you don't do a singer any favors by saying they did good when they need work. I guess it isn't really surprising that in 2024 neither he nor Supernova are around. Not trying to be mean, but really guys, how can you not hear how off-key he gets! And yes, having been a vocal coach and a professional singer, I do know the difference between on-key and off. Compare this to the same song covered by Brian Justin Crum in 2023. Completely different league.

I can't tell you how beautiful. What a beautiful gift.

What I love about this moment in the show is that Lukas had been heavily criticised as a kind of one trick pony with limited vocal range. The judges had been trying to get him to try different things and open up vocally. You can see it in the way the judges are watching him before the vocal explosion. In a lot of ways this is probably the moment that won him the show when he final cut loose on this song. Kudos to a performance that I still think about almost 20 years later.
