This is a very interesting comparison and I would like to see how this extends into more range, eg lower end or even budget boards and at that point what are you actually giving up, or super premium stuff and a couple things that make it such.
Ответить1800 exploded layout the most under appreciated layout :(
ОтветитьI agree that ODIN sounds perfect stock form omg
ОтветитьMan, these informations are awesome. Thank you. You explain all the miracles of our hobby perfectly fine. There is no knowledge gap left as one often feels when watching other enthusiasts videos. You know there is always a statement by the host saying "I don't understand how it works, but it works." or similar. This often leaves me with this little, annoying thought of missing wisdom. Man you fill the gaps, you fill out the blanks. Help us non-flight-engineering folks to understand all the nitty gritty details of sound, physics and stuff. You are the kurzgesagt of mechanical keyboards.
ОтветитьScott: "Let's make a video about the logic behind what causes keyboards to be priced differently."
QK65: "I'm about to ruin this man's whole career."
Mr crocodile dundee! What an aussie fav.
ОтветитьThere is also flame anodization which is creating a thin film layer to change the color of the metal (look up thin film effect). You can do this same thing with electrolysis without dyes as well. It is commonly done on Aluminum and Titanium.
Ответитьthe removal of the amateur acting scenes might improve the overall usability level of the video
ОтветитьTell me otherwise, even if you spent thousands on several keyboards you can't deny it is a very expensive and unnecessary hobby. A $120 modded mechanical keyboard will do just fine for me.
ОтветитьAn anodized surface can be ultra smooth and shiny. The aluminum must be polished prior to anodizing. This gives black anodization a black chrome look. This is costly compared to the more common surface finish from bead blasting or deburring process done in a tumbler.
ОтветитьIf you work at it, you can get much better deals than the odin. For example, take a ymdk melody 96 and oring mount the pcb to the case, add foam, and you have something ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ^ nearly as good as the Odin for less than half the price.
Ответитьthe talk about the colours was really interesting!
Ответитьnice clickity-clack
Ответить😏🆗️👍
ОтветитьWhat is that white wall decoration behind your monitor called?
ОтветитьI'm sorry but the Odin V2 which is currently in pre-order and is priced nearly $400 has NO (EXPLETIVE) RGB!!! What were those bozos people thinking?! I almost ordered it and I would have literally lost it and reversed my credit card / PayPal charges. I mean come on!!!!
Could you tell me where you got the board and the containers where you are storing your switches on the wall from? I've been trying to find it with no luck. Thanks
ОтветитьLove the sound signature of the akko mod 3, what is your configuration in terms of switches, mods, etc?
Ответитьthat Crocodile Dundee reference i see you! top notch intro once again XD
Ответитьthat part about anodization is best
ОтветитьBloody hell, mate! If the emus down here heard that accent, they'd declare war on us again!
Ответитьhi do you know what happen with my case its anodized silver, but after use it in high humitidity room 85-90% for 2 monts the coating looks like a little black spot like small dot scuff in some area and i cant wipe it, do you know what caused that? thankyou
ОтветитьTop tier video
ОтветитьIf I could get my hands on the Odin white- and the hippo caps. My dream board. But the darn thing is sold out. 😭 💜
Ответитьthe colour part felt like a really fun chemistry lesson !
ОтветитьI couldn’t leave this video without subbing, you’re sick dude
Ответитьi wonder when they start to make flytanium shell's similar to knife scales lol
ОтветитьI love your educational portions of your reviews...I enjoy knowing why something is.
ОтветитьCan you please review the mod 008? Thanks!
ОтветитьThe gaps on the enter key on the num pad where it's thinner near the period key and thicker near the 3 key fully tilts me and something I can't get over. Is that something that can be adjusted or is due to the key caps?
Ответитьhello i have 2 different e-white keyboard, but i got the latest one and use it for 2 weeks its starting yellowing near arrow keys? what it caused? and the other one still perfect white after 1 year
ОтветитьScot: Honey, it's time to over analyzing a keyboard feature for half of a video
Yes, honey
I wonder how many keyboards do you have and why. Are you a collector or is it just a hobby?
I've noticed that most of the shown keyboards have no backlit. I must have backlit. I didn't mod my Ducky One 2 Pudding TKL with MX browns. I like the sound as is. Only thing I did was replacing the pudding keycaps with white pbt key caps except for the space bar because it has my Zodiac sign on it. I use blue rgb because blue is my favorite color. White on black with the blue RGB backlit looks amazing IMO.
Maga keyboard ;)
ОтветитьAs a detail oriented person who's new to custom keyboards, I really like the technical deep dives. Love all the videos I've seen so far and will definitely keep watching 🤠
ОтветитьThis was SO informative! I saw another review of the NK87 Aluminum and the comments were that the texture finish seemed poor compared to other boards. While there may be some substance to that comment, it seems like an industry standard tradeoff like as your pros and cons explain. Very helpful! Thank you!
ОтветитьThat trilogy nazi logo looks not right with a white keyboard 🤢🤮
ОтветитьMod 003 for me all day. Sounds thocky!
ОтветитьWhy do people like all that flex?
What I want is basically a solid brick of aluminium with keys as the only part that move and make sound, that's what I think of a "premium feel".
Flexing keyboards remind me too much of flimsy plastic ones...
How come no one mentions the reference done on sailor song (toybox)? Haha good one!
ОтветитьMane actually said "mate" in a texan accent
Ответитьwould you recommend this over the Brutal V2?
ОтветитьWhich deskmat is that?
ОтветитьProbably the most thorough video on price differences, thank you Scott!
ОтветитьBy suggesting these features are the reason the Odin is so expensive is implying that these features are a lot more expensive than they actually are, which is proven further by the fact that the price you're quoting doesn't include these features by default.
E coating is more expensive, but if you want E coating on your Odin, you're going to have to pay more. If you want different plates and foam, you're going to have to pay more. You're not paying for a more complete built, it's just an expensive build that also has a bunch of expensive accessories, which isn't even exclusive to crazy expensive builds. Glorious will happily sell you a new knob or badge or flex kit, but their keyboards are hundreds of dollars cheaper than the Odin.
Really, it's just because people buy expensive equipment to flex their wealth, so the higher price tag isn't a bug, it's a feature. To an extent this is also a difference in scale, in that if they sold more keyboards, they could sell each of them for less, but again, that's by design.
When I heard your paint explanation you got my sub lol. Great video boss
ОтветитьWhat is this a science show? Get back to the actual keyboard review!
ОтветитьI really can't imagine spending several hundred dollars on a keyboard. too expensive and overrated
ОтветитьA Quick Update! The KBDFans ODIN GB Pricing was $319, but the in-stock pricing is now $350. Just a quick heads up on the change since I called out the GB pricing on the video!
