GMOD VR: Exploring gm_After_Hours (Secrets & Spookiness)

I'm glad you liked the music as well! I've actually got live recording videos of at least a handful of them on my channel. I'll throw whatever ones I can find as well as a few behind the scenes things into a playlist if anyone's interested. Plus I think there's a soundcloud link to every song used except one that I keep forgetting to upload there lol

I'll also admit, I have 0 clue why my little gman in the tower kept stretching like that haha, I've literally never seen that happen before! The jeep noises I think are from a version of the map before I added in some much needed optimization in that lodge/cabin kinda area, as well as realizing that my little cars were vrooming around when they spawned in instead of starting inactive. Whoops!

For the secrets, looks like I messed up a few triggers lmao you got the mannequin and broken vending machine bit. I also just realized I forgot to get rid of that unusual apartment one, it was a kinda poorly implemented scare on that main street section with the barber and travel agency. The thin and tall brick apartment door used to be unlocked, and stepping in starts a little teleportation sequence, but I was scared people might get lost in the relative void so I locked the door haha. I think the triggers and everything are still there so anyone that wants to see can just noclip in.

Hey, you should check out a day/night cycle mod, I feel like for maps that take place during the day it would be a bit more immersive with it gradually turning night.

Watching you explore some Garry's Mod maps is one of my favorite things to do

Neat seeing this map through a different order than I got through it. I didn't find any of those really crazy animated secrets but i did find the dev room but through a bug in a prior revision of the map that basically just had the dev room spawn on top of me due to where i was and where i was headed.
I like how one of the easter eggs is an apartment with a purple window. I've noticed this has been a trend in garry's mod maps to have some window in an apartment building (usually post-soviet) with purple light. But this is also a phenomenon i've seen in real life. Must be a thing everywhere. I'd guess just a thing that happens nowadays with the RGB lighting that's been coming out past 10-15 years. But for some reason yeah it tends to be purple. Streamer lighting, I guess. :p

Just checked on your channel and realized you've never played Stray before. I definitely think that you should check that game out, I'm sure you would like it.

I like it when these kinds of "games" have beds and TVs and vending machines and kitchens. It gives the suggestion that you might actually live there.

I think it's not so much that dreams sound like old VHS-tapes, but moreso that old VHS-tapes sound like dreams. It's a muffled sound, like your brain is trying to imagine the audio but is also busy trying to imagine what makes the audio and at the same time is just busy trying to sleep. That muffled sound of VHS-tapes comes from the physical degradation, as if the world itself is trying to imagine what that memory of an object should sound and look like.

Also, the umbrella man jingle and graffiti terrified me. Thought you were going to get swooped up.

been following for about a year since infra.i love the videos they really help me go to sleep since i can close my eyes while you explain the surroundings as if you were talking to a blind person. if possible id love for a revisit to obensuer. thanks again bro for helping my insomnia
