Is it correct, that the power tube settings in custom mode are shared by the clean and the lead channel?
I tried it yesterday. I was able to change the EQ and the Effects individually for clean and lead but the power amp tweakings seem to be global for both clean and lead?
Nextone Artist 35.75 pounds.
Fender Tonemaster Deluxe 23 pounds.
Excellent video Shane. Just what I needed. BTW - your video production quality has taken a massive jump! Very nice!. YES - please do a deep dive video too.
ОтветитьShane - I have the Katana 100 (not MKII) and was considering moving to the Nextone Artist or Stage. I only play at home and generally play SRV type blues or clean tones. I have noodled with the K100 Tonestudio fairly extensively including the master EQ to get a Fender Princeton and Super Reverb sound (at least to my ears). I’m not necessarily into tweaking all the time but not afraid of it either. I’m only using the GFC boss pedal for my pedal board. I do like the concept of simplicity. Two questions: 1) is there a global EQ for the Nextone (or is not needed). 2) Do you think the Nextone is worth the upgrade from my K100 or do I just have GAS? Thanks
ОтветитьWhen you said you adjusted the eq via the editor to make it more live friendly, what did you adjust?
ОтветитьI'm fortunate enough to own a Nextone Stage and a Tonemaster Deluxe. They are really very different amps. Both brilliant - just different. I have just set up a patch for my Nextone copying these settings exactly. Sounds fantastic - thanks Shane.
ОтветитьKatana MKII 2x12 can't tell the difference. Honestly is there? Great Video Thank you from across the Pond..........
ОтветитьI have a yamaha thr 10c but I'm looking to get something that looks a bit more like a guitar amp. The thr is perfect for home use. I'm wondering if this amp is good for home use, are the volumes usable?
ОтветитьWhat should we consider in choosing between the Nextone and the Katana Artist MkII?
ОтветитьHey dude, nextone editor does have High again distortion for Metal Tones and a good clean?
Thanks
Sounds fabulous
ОтветитьBrilliant video dude, great tones. Really helpful set up guide too, cheers!
ОтветитьShane, what is your opinion regarding who these are for and for what music genre? Nextone Artist vs Katana Artist MkII. Similar to you, I like cleans / dirty clean for blues, classic rock, jazz, neo-soul. Had the Katana Artist I, and only used a few effects for favorite artist or particular songs. I only play at home.
Cab size and speaker comparison... I sold my Katana 100 to get the Katana Artist MkI with it's larger cab and Waza speaker. The difference was night and day in fullness of sound. Is it fair to say the smaller cab of the Nextone Stage sounds very different than the larger cab of the Nextone Artist?
you are like musician Jason Statham
ОтветитьNextone Artist 80 is the bomb. BluesCube without the high cost. (But Blues Cube is awesome.) I do not miss my Katana Artist MkI. I sold Ktn100 for the KtnArtist for full sound of the Waza speaker and larger cab. But, the Nextone has it all. I can dial in whatever I want and switch to four realistic classic amp circuit platforms in one box. Tube lovers would need at least four different amps $$$$. Then, could never turn up to get the best tone. Tube lovers have no problem with their Helix or Kemper etc., but have problem with a Katana Nextone or other non-tube amp.
The Nextone does one job. It's an amp with key useful effects that enhance the tone. No more, no less. Use or tweak presets and you are done. Tweak at venue like tweaking a EQ pedal if needed.
I never used all the Katana effects playing Blues R&B NeoSoul. Also use Boss GT-1 and my modeling software. Use my GT-1 for Phaser Vibe or extra Delay effects when needed. Its portable a jam with friends or at Church.
I still own the Fender Mustang III V2 with the stock speaker. I only play at home so I need to keep the volume down to stay friends with the neighbors! I mainly play blues and some rock and I like clean tones but also a bit distortion , but not to much. What do you think about the Boss Nextone Stage or Artist compared to the Mustang? Would that be a big improvement over the Mustang? The Boss Nextone has an attenuator switch. Is that different to the master control on the Mustang? If the attenuator switch is switched to the lowest setting, does the Boss still sound good with some distortion? I am also hesitating between the Boss Nextone or the Roland Blues Cube. I do think that the Boss will give me more options like delay effects. What is your honest opinion about the Fender and the Boss?
ОтветитьNot convinced with this, I think peavey bandit sounds better
ОтветитьI like the Katana Artist more. It is slicker looking but Maybe the could add the power amp section variations from the nextone series to complement the preamp options on the artist. That would be cool. Oh yeah, and a front panel noise gate as well. Katana Artist 3 here we come. Lol
ОтветитьHi Shane,
Can we change presets with the footswitch instead of toggling the 6 available options?
I am not a computer wiz, and i had a very hard time loading the tone editor into my windows 10, i had to call Sweetwater support and have them load it. There is know info on setting the editor to your computer.
ОтветитьShared EQ for channels not good !
ОтветитьHey Shane, great video! Just ordered one of these. Would love to see an update/deep dive on this!
ОтветитьSorry boss,.. i have nextone stage, its very versatile amp good quality near tube amp tone good power love it much etc, until i knew about somethings missing, if one day that my nextone got wreck, its not ordinary solid state and not tube amp maybe different circuit and whos gonna fix it???, so im thinkin back to tube amp,
ОтветитьHello, can you run backing tracks to BOSS NEXT ART? Greetings from Bulgaria!
ОтветитьGreat review: fantastic sounds ! I had to dump all my valve amps, need to go for sth lighter and quieter. Nextone sounds and looks fantastic. I love Mark Knopfler - I wonder if Boss nextone will be a good one here to go with my strat for the kind of Sultans of Swing tones, or maybe a Blues Cube is a better option? Would you consider putting the two against each other in a video test? Nextone vs Blues Cube... Anyway, Sultans of Swing is my holy grail of sound.
ОтветитьTiming is everything my friend ;-)
ОтветитьHah, breaking out the Owner of a Lonely Heart riff, never thought I would hear the day. Awesome stuff, mate.
ОтветитьHey would this amp be suitable for home practice? Im after something that has good tube like cleans that wont be too loud. I was thinking of getting a Blues junior IV but heard those won't sound good at low to medium volume as they are at their best when cranked up. Also how does this compare with the Roland Jc-22
Ответитьshould i get this or the fender champion 100 or a bugera 50w
ОтветитьGotta wonder if this or the blues cube artist is better
ОтветитьI'd love to see this compared to the Quilter Aviator Cub head to head.
ОтветитьVery nice introduction to the Nextone Editor, your settings sound great. Nice crunchy fat strat tone with plenty of dynamics. Many thanks 🙂👍
ОтветитьI like your sound and your playing. All of that is a little too complicated for me so I’m wondering if you can use this amp without a computer or do you lose its features?
ОтветитьHey Shane! Ordered the Artist off of the back of your few videos with this amp! Any chance you could share those tweaks you made to the el34 lead section?! As far as bias, sag and any post EQ and such! Just as a general starting point.
Also how're you getting on with this a year later?! Still seeing gigs? Maybe a long term review?? Keep up the good work dude ✌️✌️
Great video but definitely not the amp for me..tone just sounds muffled to me
ОтветитьThanks for this. Copied all your settings today and it sounds 👌
Ответить"Better than a peavey bandit" isn't exactly setting the bar high.
Ответитьi would love to know what you think about the nextone compared to the blues cube :)
ОтветитьThanks for the video. I'm torn between the Kat Artist and the Nextone Special. Don't need all the effect of the Kat. Interested in the quality of the tone mostly - for a simple clean, clean with dirt, and OD. Nothing high gain. Cost aside what do say? I know I already dig the Kat but think the tone of the Nextone and its ease of use might be better for me. Thanks.
ОтветитьI have the 1x12 80 watt. Great amp IMO. I've yet to download the boss software and see what i can tweak. Have katana tone studio software (and a katana) and that is really fun. Should add though, the Nextone Artist sounds great out of the box and it loves my pedals.
ОтветитьThank you Shane for a very methodical look at the way you use this amp.
ОтветитьI got this after my katana and liked it but it didn't really shine in anything but was a good all rounder.I have switched up and got an orange supercrush which I love. The head was similar price and already had a 1x12 cab so it was a winner for my uses.
ОтветитьShane, after you've configured both channels to your liking how do you save them so that the amp fires up that way ? Scratch that, just figured it out 🙂
Awesome demo as usual btw!
Hey Shane, I remember years ago watching one of your first videos where you reviewed the tech 21 trademark 60. I'm a big fan of these amps have been playing them for years and it would be really cool to see you revisit the trademark 60. You can get them for Crazy Cheap these days and they are usually in good working order. Top quality all analog made in USA amp that not enough people know about. Les Paul played one up until his death and called it the best amp he ever had.
ОтветитьThis is a very good introduction to Nextone Editor software. Good basic set-up. Thanks for that 🙂👍
ОтветитьCan u run it at 2watts for home use?
ОтветитьNow that some time has passed, do you still use the Nextone?
ОтветитьWhy does the clean tone sound dirty?
ОтветитьThis sound IT is works only during program is on or is on memory Amp?
ОтветитьThe Nextone is an amazing amp but it's all about the editor software. You can literally dial up everything from shimmering clean tones to way over the top high gain. Saying it's a Blues or classic Rock amp is doing it a great disservice. EQ, sag, bias, is all in the software. In my opinion, it completely smokes the Katana. It has way more balls, versatility and is more realistic and professional.
