ОтветитьI worked with CBC Radio in Sudbury for a long time and recall interviewing Laura on the shores of Ramsey Lake, an iconic spot in the nickel city. She was magical. I'm old enough and CBC enough to have actually heard her first appearance on This Country in The Morning radio program with Peter Gzowski. She sang My Bonny. Like the rest of Canada, Gzowski was floored and said simply "Wow". I still do. She the best thing since sliced bread.
On another note, you mention Ray Penton... was he a little bald guy from Gander by any chance?
I saw Laura Smith perform at The Northern Lights Festival Boreal in Sudbury, Ontario, back in the early 90's. I immediately fell in love with her haunting voice and the beautiful songs she sung. I HAD to have her CD and have never regretted the purchase, as I can listen to it over and over again. Canada has so many wonderful talents and she is definitely one of them!!
ОтветитьLove her singing!
