In the Uk , EN weapons and grimoire foils were available 3-4 hours into the sale. JP upto 12 hours . Every influencer was saying how much more value these 2 sets were Prior to the sale and didn’t have much to say about Game End. I am guessing Game End had so little reprint value wizards decide to offer fewer Game End leading to fewer complete bundles. Personally bought EN and JP weapons and grimoire and am pretty happy with what I got. Might try a gilded lotus off eBay if the price is right

What was wrong with this Secret Lair? I already received my order (just the Grimoire because I’m not a greedy scalper)

One odd thing I had was being in the queue my browser kept crashing and it was the only tab. Never had an issue with the SL website but it was an odd issue.

Unfortunately, we have to choose between "pure money sink with no resale value" like skins, or "limited supply and scalpers, but we get to Ebay our stuff for decent salvage value when we quit."

So did secret lair eat up From the Vault series?

This was my first time trying to buy a Secret Lair, and the entire experience has completely turned me off of wanting to do it again. I was in queue for 4 hours when the site glitched as it was about to let me in, lost my spot in line and then added an additional hour onto my wait. By the time I got in, everything I wanted was gone. I've been playing Magic since Urza's Legacy was released, and I'm beyond pissed, so I can only imagine how new players, who got into the game for Final Fantasy, feel about this entire experience right now. I'm really not looking forward to seeing how they mishandle the Spider-Man release.

The reason is that they can't keep up with demand so a FOMO model benefits them more. They don't want people making educated decisions and checking card values, they want people rushing to get it. They don't want these things on sale for too long either because that gives time for one of the other numerous products they're shipping to be more appealing or be strictly better.
And speaking of, I don't think they have the print capacity to do it to demand, We're seeing a set every 2 months plus supplementals, masters sets, secret lairs etc. I don't think they actually have the print or logistics capacity to do more. And they know people will be clamouring for the next one anyway.

I know the value was there but I knew it would be a shit show and avoided this drop like the plague.

I immediately got in line to get the FF bundle and when I got to checkout after an hour, all the bundles were sold out. I was still able to some of the individual drops, but have a bit of FOMO for the special Gilded Lotus that was only available with the bundles.

I’ve seen so many people that didn’t get in because the “session timed out” but I actually just reloaded the site when I got that message and got in fine, and it’s bullshit because it doesn’t mean it was a problem with the servers it was a problem with the website itself that caused so many people not to get product because WOTC just didn’t have their damn website working properly

It is only tailor made for scalpers to make bank while the working folk who might want to get some of these reprints get shafted. Honestoy, Hasbro should be investigated for colluding with criminal scalpers.l, like TicketMaster does.
The ones i was even slightly interested in was out of stock before i could view the page on my break.

I had one of each in my cart. IN MY CART. Put me in a queue to checkout. Queue said "you're in line to FINISH your order". When I got to the end of the queue SIX HOURS LATER, everything in my cart was gone. Imagine shopping IRL, you spend half an hour shopping through the store and getting eggs and milk and whatever in your cart, you go to the front to checkout, there's a line, an HOUR later you get to the register and they take everything out of your cart and give it to other people up there that are gonna take your groceries and shit and resell it outside for triple the price....... Honestly I'd be in the fucking news the next day.

Are you really surprised? This whole set & any secret lair that people actually want have been a disaster.
It's getting old & I'm genuinely getting to the point where I'm about to sell everything... what's the point if you can't get the products you want unless you pay ridiculous mark ups from people who botted purely for profit.

High-level executives, as I understand it, are paid to stay ahead of trends. To put their companies in a position to benefit from the next big thing. Microsoft put personal computers in everyone's homes. Amazon invested in home delivery and distribution infrastructure. Apple successfully predicted the smartphone. This is why these guys are supposed to be making the big bucks.

So why are so many c-suites out of touch? Why can't they see that they are making profits DESPITE their decisions, not because of them? Those are rhetorical questions, btw.

As a recent Final Fantasy fan, MTG got me into Final Fantasy and I got really hyped for the set. Especially the secret layers, I was so happy to see Titus's sword get a card and a card that I play! The day of the sale I was right there front of the line For one of each foil. 4 1/2 hours later I'm at my car and it tells me everything was sold out except for the Japanese foil, weapons one. I was so angry, but also slightly relieved that I at least got the one card that I really wanted. Was extremely pissed off by all of this. The fact that people are abusing the system for money so that the actual fans can't get these great pieces. Is honestly shameful and I despise wizards for it.

Just wanted to add my experience.

I managed to get 1 foil grimoire and 2 foil weapons. Took me 5 seconds tops to add it all to my cart to check out right when the drop started, and it took an hour and a half waiting in the queue to finish up and place the order. I don't want to ever do that again.

Had a mate put through a bulk order for everything our play group wanted, so only one of us had to stay up, as here in NZ, they go live at 3am. He managed to get what all of us wanted. I've still never had to try and secure my own SL product, and am infinitely thankful. I got a full bundle on the way with 0 hassle.

My big complaint is people not getting notification emails when they signed up for them. Also the fact that there were posts on TCGPLAYER an hour before release, from TCGPLAYER Employee Accounts for resales on the Secret Lair at 3-4 times the price.

Not to mention the not limiting purchases. They should have known better

I am really happy to live in the EU. You still have the same long queue time but most of the time you can easily pick up these Secret Lairs.

6 hours in the line? Who waits for 6 hours without checking product availability? Everything was sold out after 2 hours. Waiting for 6 is not very smart...

Game over sold out first, still no clue why though.

We sat in queue for 4 hours and 40 minutes to have all of the english bundles sold... so i managed to get 2 of the packs in jp at least =/

I ended up getting in the queue within the first 5ish seconds, and only had to wait in line for 8 minutes.
Got the full English bundle and just checked the shipping progress.
It shipped 2 days ago and its already out for delivery this morning!

I picked up the English bundle, checked out the second it went live and only waited 15 mins to checkout. Had a friend that wanted a foil copy and figured I'd get the bundle so I can keep the non foil lairs and also get the promo

I had to wait an hour and 15 minutes, but once I got in queue I was able to buy within seconds. Got very lucky from what it seems like lol

I bought the secret layers of eBay and the guy sent me an email stating that he’s waiting for wizards to give him the tracking information if I would’ve known that I wouldn’t have paid $450 For something that’s gonna take one to three weeks to get shipped after it’s release date absolutely retarded

Is it possible that WOTC uses the limited print run so that the Hasbro staff can purchase the Secret Lairs in bulk and make huge profit on secondary market.

I said this would be a shit show because of the loss of print to order, and an acquaintance bragged about his "supah fast internet speedz" and I laughed and said "yeah as long as you get yours, fuck everyone else". Which made it extra funny when his internet speed meant nothing when he tried to queue up

The rumors around the anniversay pack cluster fuck was that the shareholders REALLY like it when the productg sells out quickly, and reward the execs that make that happen as there is no waste or potential dead product.

Went live at midnight in Asia, finally completed my purchase at 2:15am!!
Been a MTG fan for years, FF fans since FF7 (PS1), put my En bundle 20secs after live, queued for an hour to find out is sold out, then another hour finally got to the payment page, finally got the JP version after 2 fricking hours!! Outrageous!

My friend panic bought the $400 bundle and managed to get his order in. I, also immediately when the drop became active, tried to get 1 English foil of each one and got stuck with a 4h queue. In the end, I'm going to buy the foil JP set off of him at MSRP+tax so I lucked out. But it still sucks.
