REFX Nexus 4 VST Plugin is Disappointing and Here's Why!

I heard it was bc Nexus 3 got hacked so they had to release Nexus 4 to control the hacked versions

Nexus I would say is just very palatable, while some free VSTs go way off the map

Sorry, i like romplers a lot, cause the most allow basic changes, which is enough. Every new sound whats wanted to be developed is developed. I don`t want to sit hours of hours work on a specific sound with a million of parameters and values. Wasting my time. - So i like romplers, cause the sound that i search is 100% guaranteed developed and exists. - The most of you have a hundredthousands of sounds, but nobody knows what he really has , cause its too much to overview. So every sound again exists in thousands of variations on this planet. So one or two romplers with their libraries are absolutely enough. Also VPS Avenger is one of the best synths EVER MADE. Ok, its also a money-printing machine for their fathers ,but its ok, They are really good, so they deseerve it - And NEXUS is a funny thing, easy to handle and has a huge community and sound-xp`s like avenger.
The most other synths like pigments or so have sounds that are more experimental, or as complex as hell, but cannot be used in normal music. Only in some deep trap-lo-fi-trash-rnb-hiphop-shit.
But if you make normal music, or jazzy, or funky, or retro style, you need good bread and butter sounds which they are miles away from. Thats my opinion.

Recently I bought Nexus 4 with a few extensions. I've never had an earlier version, so I can't compare the differences. The sound quality is very good and there are many possibilities with this rompler. I was happy with it, until I contacted support for a user question. My experience: Very unfriendly staff! For the purchase price, I should have expected more helpful answers to my question. Too bad I'm treated like an insignificant number as a customer, so I'm disappointed too. I wonder if more people have this experience...?

I couldn’t agree more with your opinion ! I use version 3 and it serves a purpose well enough … I think with Nexus you dip in and out for the odd sound or two for use in a composition, but I would not use it as a complete, self-contained sound source for an entire track ( no way ! ). I agree also that UVI are the dogs nuts of virtual instrument quality, but they’re expensive … Still, the old adage applies that ‘you pay for what you get’.

The problem is they all sound the same and too expensive like €60 per set. Some nice features in Nexus 4 but every set is the same.

Nexus is ass. Nexus 2 was the peak and they def didn’t keep up with times

ReFx Nexus is probably the best rompler out there but don't expect any fireworks from the standard edition. Expansions is where Nexus truly shines. Also you can truly tweak the sounds further within Nexus.

Are tgose the stovk sounds in Nexus 4 ? How big is the library gb ?

Played with and expanded demo for a while courtesy of some anarchists friends from Russia and today I finally just delete all nexus 3 and expansions and boy oh boy, I saved over 150 gigabytes of precious SSD real state, rarely ever used it and realized that is was just an overprice hyped up old school sampler with overpriced expansion packs for my wallet, that's why I always recommend to demo/trial a product really hard to see if it will meet your creative needs and nexus failed that test for me at least. so your appraisal of the VST is right on the money considering more affordable alternatives ... not even for free I would consider clogging my SSDs with nexus content

I am a blind music producer and I still have nexus 3, I didn’t bother upgrading to nexus 4 and I don’t think I will either.

I think their biggest mistake was not updating their sound library to be more modern. They release new packs sure, but they're expensive, and for the 4 to 500 dollars you spend on nexus, you get so many old outdated sounds that could be made easily in any modern synth.

I benefited from this updated because I had upgraded from Nexus 2. And there is definitely a sound difference. It’s more crisp and hi fi

I am angry at ReFX tbh. They had Nexus2 for 100 years, then they release nexus3. After a lot of thinking I bought the expensive nexus3, and just some year later they release Nexus4 ? Offer you to upgrade for additonal 100 euros lol and also the new expansions are ONLY for nexus4.

i tought nexus would be perfect time saveer and the best option for me, because most of the promo demos sounds great...so i've bought it...and i am so disappointed too. most of the factory presets sounds like sh... definitely not worth of 250€. There is no decent piano sound...all choirs in the vocal sections are high-cutted over 5 kHz. But to be fair...there are some decent leads and bass presets...and some cool pads too, but nothing which you could not replicate with much cheaper plugins. With such factory banks, i am definitely not willing to buy any other expansion...not even in discount. Sorry Manuel, sorry Michael...i know you can do it better. The librarian is really cool, but the factory sounds sucks. I regret this purchase

The thing I hate is you get discount on the upgrade if you purchased Ver. 3, but it’s still like 100 dollars and they only added 328 or so sounds I’m like nah

I would argue at this point Intial Audio Heat up 3 is better than Refx Nexus 4

Nexus 4 is good to me. What you can do is modify the presets and save it as a whole song and recall the song and every parameter is on its place. And modify it even more outside nexus 4 on top of it. Just brilliant. Some samplepacks are stunning to me. Make sure you are capable of feeling the chords and the key modes, then you have a ball with family and friends those who might dance on your song

Don't forget Vanguard was another bipolar plugin. Nexus 2 my all time favorite plugin. Made 1800+ beats with it. Never crashed on me unless I installed faulty sounds coming from newer nexus

you can mix wavetable layers but not your own.
