In a slight defense of Michelle, I believe 3 weeks have gone by? Or 2 more matches? They say there was a loss, and a draw in between, and now another match. That being said, I totally feel that she’s prodding Ted too much on the road. It’s odd how it takes a 3rd message from the lawyer to figure out he can just take a photo. Too much. (And I’m purposely skating around any of Ted’s future arc.)

I’ve been waiting for you to get to this episode and next - my faves of this season… I MISS THIS SHOW.

I could only assume the rush on signing the divorce papers was for the plot in pressuring Ted, and eventually pushing him into that anxiety attack. At the same time, when my friend went through her own divorce, the clerk told her that due to some coincidentally lucky circumstance if she could return the last paperwork that day then their divorce could be finalized that very same day. Her ex was nowhere near as nice as Ted, so she did in fact show up to his job to have him sign everything ASAP.

I’ve been a little more lenient to the storyline since my friend told me that story, imagining some fictional deadlines Michelle & Ted must need to meet that are further complicated by different time zones lol

While I do mostly agree with yall about the wife and the divorce papers, I will come to her defense slightly in that some jurisdiction after everything has been agreed to will set a date that the papers need to be signed and finalized by. If the date is missed, then you have to start the proceedings over and incur additional court costs and lawyer fees.

Rebecca is a bitch and totally deserves a slap in the face. After all, it's not like she was kept in a cage or chained. Hurting a whole team, whole city just to get to your ex? I'm done with making excuses for this rich healthy adult.

You KNOW Roy knows ALL the disney songs because he's the best effing uncle.

Worth noting that Roy says "we never win AT Everton" - teams in the same league play each other twice per season, home (at your own stadium) and away (at theirs) to balance out the "home field advantage" so it's more likely that Richmond haven't won an away game against Everton in 60 years (rather than never beating them). And they may also have met - and lost away - in FA Cup games, a separate competition (open to teams from all leagues) that takes place alongside the normal season. So that's still a pretty terrible streak (and therefore a great one to break) but in a sense it's only about half as bad as it could've been :).

And I guess "hit it for 6" is the closest to "hit it out of the park" but that's cricket, not football (cricket has a boundary marker around the field and if a batsman hits one that grounds before hitting the boundary that's 4 runs but if they hit one that flies over it, that's 6 - it's a bit like a "home run").

It's quite possible that 2 clubs may not play each other very often over a 60 year period. There are 4 tiers of professional football in England so if teams are not in the same league the only way they would play each other would be in a cup competition. Clubs may not play each other for years so a 60 year drought may not be a 60 year losing streak.

I can’t tell you how it felt to watch this show when it came out in the depths of the pandemic. I think it would’ve hit whenever it was released, but it truly did feel like a beacon of light and hope in the midst of the world falling apart, and - for me, at least - that’s a big reason why ppl were so passionate abt it. I wish I could tell you abt all the things that you should be paying attention to cuz they’re gonna be referenced later or have some sort of callback, but I don’t wanna spoil anything. Just know that this show will give you ALL the feels. Over and over.

This and Schidts Creek are my comfort shows. Both strive to be better people without dumping on other people but instead, lifting them up too. It's inspirational and aspirational.

I find that one of the signs of great writing within TV, is that as you get more information about characters and how they perceive an event, you get a more nuanced understanding of why they reacted as they did. That it is possible that you go back and forth on liking and disliking characters. That it is possible for you to review a character that you liked or disliked, and see their faults or their generosity in their earlier behaviour, if you are rewatching a show like this one, while still finding them likeable or dislikeable at the point you have reached later in the show.

In this show they demonstrate the quality that they can bring to bear by having Jamie do his 'Jamie Tartt' song as a part of his me, me, me attitude during play, and most people decide that they do not like this. It is a presentation of arrogance and immaturity. Then in a later episode we introduce Dani Rojas with his 'Dani Rojas' song and we feel his positivity and, we like him and his behaviour. The quality of this writing and these performances are elegant in their execution. This takes the show from entertainment and moves it into being a piece of art.

A great episode, just spoiled by the fax machine nonsense. Any hotel today will have a printer/scanner that can also act as a fax machine, even if, like mine, it has never been used to send or receive a fax.

Rupert is emotionally and psychologically abusive. While Rebecca is in part responsible for pulling away, abusers isolate their victims. They make them feel less human and less deserving of love. Of course, Rebecca felt she needed to be alone.

Hannah Waddingham was a theatre actor before anything else, mostly musicals. She can sing like a Canary!

Hannah Waddingham said they did several takes of the karaoke scene with Ted having a panic attack. She chose to sing live in every take so Jason could have her support during that difficult scene. What a rock star!

She's a London West End icon (equivalent of NYC Broadway).

Teams play each other 2 times a year in the Premier League (not counting any cups outside of the league). However, the 60 year run was specific to not winning in that time at Everton's home stadium, which would be once a year (again, not counting any cups). So it's AT LEAST 60 encounters in which that run has persisted and that's assuming both teams are in the same league for all 60 years.
