While I do agree that this has no real impact on the world. It still sucks when things get censored. Even though the devs said that "oh the outfit changes were just part of the development process" that wasn't the case. They were in 1.0. They were printed on the disks and shipped. It was a day one patch that changed them after the game launched. This isn't some change that the devs made 2 years ago that people are mad at. I was more pressed that they censored the amount of blood in the game. You're telling me that I can cleave a giant toothy vagina monster in half and Eve was only covered in a few splatters of blood? In the demo she was drenched.

One thing I really have against people claiming devs deliberately making characters ugly.
The general argument goes why they make men photo realistic but women always looks worse, the face scan should make character identical to the face model.

The photos of those actresses were taken with perfect lighting, perfect makeup and and perfect angle, and perhaps a touch of photoshop. Try looking for a photo of the said actress without makeup.
It takes lots of effort to make characters looks good in a game. You still need to smooth out the details and apply makeups, and make sure the model is presented with the best camera angle and put on the right lighting and shading. Ashley from RE4 remake suffered greatly due to the dim lighting and the grim atmosphere.
It takes lots of time and effort and skill to refine the character presentation, and not every devs are capable, or have the time and resources of doing so. Yoko Tarō put a ridiculous amount of effort into the design of 2B, which took up the majority of the team meetings.

But why are men always photo realistic?
Because male characters are easier to make than female characters. The rough edges and imperfect lighting would highlight the facial features of males, making them look more masculine. The same doesn’t apply to female characters, where the margin of error is way smaller, as female’s facial feature are generally less pronounced than males.

Most of the so called ugly characters are results of incompetency, cost cutting and time constraint. Not to mention that character models are often outsourced to lowly paid contractors.
