The Welsh names planed and blaned, Breton planedenn and Gaelic planaid for “planet,” are all from the Latin term planeta borrowed from the Greek planetes, “wanderer,” and deriving from asteres planetai, “wandering stars (from the verb planasthai, "to wander").” The question that comes to mind is what was the original Celtic name? Apart from the Old Irish Tect, the other attested Old Celtic name for planet was seruons, also meaning, “vagabond,” yielding seruonta retla, or in one-word seruoretla for, “wandering star.”
