Has there ever been a song thats so emotive. It is so beautifull it makes me cry before the tune starts. W¡hatever age you are this tune is so strong and true. It is about strength and quality of personality. We all need to be strong sometimes.

@Sugarbehr1967 The incomparable coloratura opera singer Clara Mae Turner and actress is the actress who played the role of Nettie in this movie version of Carousel. This movie which was filmed in 1956 was the only movie she appeared in although she remained active in the opera world many years after this movie was released..

I was at a Christmas part several years ago at a friend's home. I had the pleasure of talking with Shirley Jones... what a warm and classy lady. I told her that this song is one of my all time favorites and I had it on my ipod in the car. She said it was her favorite score and later that night she sang this at the piano, with the entire party joining in. It was a pretty magical moment.

yes she sang in brilliantly in the film although it was actually written for another great opera singer Christine Johnston by R&H who also lived well into her 90s I believe love her performance of the song also on the original cast recording of Carousel
