Insurance is to insure that the damages you do to your car or someone elses in a collision are paid for. You dont want some broke idiot crashing into you and not have a guarantee that they are going to pay for the damages. Thats why having insurance is law

Saying insurance shouldn’t be mandatory… let me know how you feel when dumbie driving a 1969 Honda Civic drives full force into your Ferrari. You don’t have insurance. You have to sue that guy, and hope he has the money to buy you a new one. Cause well you can’t get blood from a stone.

Then you have to either buy yourself a new car or fix your current car till that lawsuit is done if so then you can go after damages.

You could just have insurance and have the insurance company sue, pay and fix your car for a couple thousand a year. I’d take that over the headache of someone just flying into me and losing the next 5 years of my life hoping I get my money back.

Listen I agree on foundational terms of the insurance argument. BUT it's too much to vet everyone as being honorable. Sad but true.
