This is painful news. FromSoftware is legendary, I love all the games they make and they have less than 500 staff compared to Square Enix who have something like ten times the staff.

I'm just glad that Microsoft could never afford FromSoftware🤣🤣

I think it would be good for everyone, from soft is good and all but most of their games usually suffers from graphic and performance issues

Demons souls 2, bloodborne 2 and elden ring 2 could be console exclusive if this rumor is true.

I knew that getting the PS5 Pro was the right choice.

Don't believe leaks in rumors, will wait for Sony to announce, but if happens they need to make PS exclusive and not port to any other platforms especially PC

I've never really had an opinion in acquisitions until MS started scooping studios up. Now? I have zero issue with Sony acquiring all the Japanese studios that I enjoy 😂

This is an acquisition that actually makes sense. A lot of people speculate that the reason Sony hasn't touched Bloodborne again is because there's some clause in their contract saying FromSoftware needs to be involved. Sony has some history with both FromSoft and Spike Chunsoft. And Sony owns CrunchyRoll and Funimation so getting an inhouse anime production team with Kadokawa makes sense for the wider Sony outside Playstation

The Sony ceo said about a month ago that Sony didn’t have enough IP’s. I guess he wouldn’t have said that unless they were trying to do something about it. They are a good match, games and anime.

Just something to note. This does not absolutely mean fromsoft would come under playstation studios. The chances of them being integrated as another subsidiary of sony music is far greater as sony music is already one of kadokawas biggest and long time customer spanning near 3 decades.

if FromSoftware are being sold and can't go independent then Sony is the best option for sure

I hope so. Do it and have FS use the same engine Bluepoint used for Demon’s Souls remake.

Finally someone pointed out that Sony already owns 15% of From Software. This makes sense for them.

It would be cool if they bought capcom.

Hopefully theyll use Sony's money to make their games run and look a little better.

When Microsoft bought Activision, it was exclusively a video game studio. If Sony buys Kadokawa, it’ll be a much bigger monopoly than Microsoft’s acquisitions. Kadokawa is a Japanese media conglomerate that owns major light novel and anime distributions, the majority of From Software, Acquire (Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood's developer), and much more! Sony will become a monopoly of Japanese media, if so.

I am extrememly frightened by this. I cant think of a single instance of a huge global company purchasing a game studio and not proceeding to completely F-up every single thing that comes out of them. I honestly do hope I am wrong about this, since I love fromsoft games, but right now, I feel like a justifiable doomsday prophet here.
