Crimean Tatar TV Channel Shut Down: Poroshenko says will help re-open channel on Ukriane mainland

The world's only Crimean Tatar TV channel is now off-air after Russia's broadcast regulator refused to renew the channel's licence. ATR, which is based in the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula, has also had its other media holdings shutdown including a children's channel and two radio stations. According to Amnesty International, the channel submitted all the applications and documents needed in advance of the deadline, but did not hear back from the licensing authority. The channel's owner said had received received threats prior to the deadline.
