I have a big bike (1190), it's definitely not a dual sport, more like an SUV, and like most SUV drivers, I do stupid shit and get myself in trouble. Just got an older 450 to help. Also, have you ever tried tenkara fly fishing? Perfect for CO backcountry, I tried it a few years ago and haven't looked back.

I can ride my yzfx locally on public roads where I live. Zero chance I would get on highway 40 and leave Kremmling on any motorcycle less powerful and capable than something like a zx14 or h2 up here. People are hopelessly dangerous on the roads here in Grand County, I am scared to get on 40 with a dual sport or dirtbike, not fast enough.

I absolutely agree, something like your xr or a KTM 500, drz are truly dual sport bikes much moreso than an adventure bike.

Seen riders do things on so called “adventure bikes” that I would think twice about on my 501 or 300. 80% rider 20% bike. 😬

Anything heavier than a drz400 is not a dual sport. End of story.

Morgan can you make one of these about MX “snobs” that think the are better because they ride track, even though they lack the skills to ride or even keep up in the mountains.

I’ve rode with these kids who have all new gear and graphics and they can’t ride 99% of the trails in the mountains in Idaho. But they think they are hot shit because they can do a table top lol.

Just got back from the trails... We met up with two guys on ADV bikes, one on a KTM 690R and the other on a 1050 Adventure. They wanted to follow us because they were unfamiliar with the area, both did well in some gnar double track, I thought they were going to follow us into the single track(which I really wanted to see...) But the guy on the 690 took a dumper in a nasty water crossing just before we got to the ST and they split off.

So that "Road" the guy dumped that big bike, do you need to have your bike "plated"?

I agree for the most part. No doubt my 650r is a dualsport although since it didn't come with a plate it could also be argued its a dirtbike. I also have a really well setup dr650 with over 1k in suspension, a pumper carb, high comp piston, ect and it's also very much a dualsport because I can get it just about anywhere I can get my xr for the most part but it's way better on the road. If I went through the trouble of plating my yz250x I still wouldn't consider it a dualsport since it's so brutal to ride on the road for any amount of time. I have been doing lots of thinking about a new T700 for the longer rides and a little offroad exploring along the way. Been waiting for some 650r content.

Imo a dual sport is a like a Enduro u can plate it for street use but if u decide to hit a trail it handles and acts pretty much a dirt bike but that 1200 should never been on no trail that's a bike a load up some bags maybe strap a sleeping bag on it and hit a road trip or some shit even if it wasn't so damn heavy I dont want 1200cc on no trail period it's just to much for the situation

I have a question not related to this video but anyway maybe you could do a small video on the subject so I picked up a 2018 rmz250 that as of right now I can only run vp fuel do to a high compression piston was built by jgrmx now from what I've been seeing they didn't make an oversized tank for the 2018 rmz250 for whatever reason but is there any tank from other year rmz250s that I could possibly make work id like a bigger tank because it only has a 1.7 gallon tank would greatly appreciate any information

If you cannot pick your bike up when it falls....you are in over your head. Get a smaller bike.

Hey Morgan, here’s finally a subject that I (minimally, kinda, not really at all, sorta, talkin out my ass, just an algorithm comment, somewhat) disagree with you on: all I know is that in my state (Oregon) if I wanted a plated dirt bike, I had two options: buy one 2006 or earlier that’s grandfathered in, or get a “dual sport” that’s labeled as such from the factory. So I got myself 2021 Beta 390. But here’s what annoys me: when people use the nomenclature “enduro” when they’re referring to a plated dirt bike-dual sport

2. Pop wheelies!

You have "sport" and "terrain" confused. And, no we are not free to use words how we please, words have meanings or all kinds of anarchy will reign. In the same vein, most jeep buyers only go grocery shopping with them, at the same time the vehicle is capable of so much more.

Dualsport bikes are those dirt bikes that are street legal.

Usually anything that could be ridden legally on the street and the dirt without wind protection. Then again I regularly took my Africa twin out on single track and MX tracks

I have a 2021 Harley pan America, adventure bike. A 2012 Ktm 450 xcw, dual sport. A 2018 Ktm 300 xcw, dirt bike. But, they’re all plated. They all see some dirt and they all see some pavement. The 450 get the most use. And it’s arguably the most versatile.
