The CM-12 tank is the model named after Taiwan's modification of the M48A3 tank in service. When the Tank Development Research Center produced 450 CM-11 Brave Tiger tanks for Taiwan, it purchased an additional 100 sets of fire control systems than the original 450 sets, so it used these extra equipment for the M48A3 tanks in use. The upgrade and modification were completed around 1993 or before. The biggest difference in appearance between CM-12 and CM-11 is that the CM-12 uses the M48A3 hull and turret, so the front of the car is arc-shaped, while the CM-11 uses the newly purchased M60A3 tank hull, and the front is a straight line plane. . The CM-12 is Taiwan’s oldest main tank still in operation in 2020, but it is few and mostly sealed
