I am astonished watching this particular episode of "Wire" first time ever I found a Hindu scholar with a very high intellectual caliber speaking the truth fearlessly. Thank you Mr. Karan Thapar for bringing such people in your program who can speak the truth. I am watching your show from USA and I extend my respect to you and particularly to Mr. Avay Shukla. Please keep up spreading the truth in Indian society. India definitely needs it. The Indian society is becoming extremely narrow minded and prejudice, how extremist Hindus are behaving towards all other religions in India is very bad indeed.

I completely disagree with the word "duffer". A duffer does have its own pov but instead of following his or her infusion he/she follows somebody else's mindset. Actual word must be "idiot". An idiot does not even have courage to make himself/herself realize having his/her own thought, ideology, vision and a mindset. A couple of goons are telling Hindus that they are the most superior amongst all of the mankind, they have a culture which is superior to other cultures, so all the other human being of any other religion are less human. Even in Hindus they divide it caste wise. Whereas on actual basis the reality is that drinking cow urine, eating cow dung, drinking donkeys milk, accepting cow (and animal with no mind) as there mother, believing that somebody born in specific caste is superior like Brahmans and some as not touchable like achuts. Not allowing a widow to remarry, accepting everybody who is more powerful than you as a God, reviewing everybody on there financial conditions. All the mentioned acceptance of Hindus are simply not even logical if any human being even think by his/her brain. Believing on the slogan of making India a Hindu rashtra, self believing that they have become "vishwa guru", whereas the world doesn't even give a shit on Indians saying. The whole nation is believing on these most idiotic saying narrated by BJP extremists or else are just silent just to avoid any mishap in there life, ignoring the fact that this silence will one day become a future which shall burn there own generation to come. Shameful, pathetic and really painful.

I have not read the book. But from what this author says, it seems he expresses his ignorance of how the Indian society has evolved from the beginning, especially in the last 3000 years. The main problem with India is its genetic inhomogeneity which thrives under the garb of caste system. About 70-80% of our population are still ignorant and superstitious . It is not the fault of the bulk population to be duffers but they were forced into that domain about 2200 years ago.

You have not noted the changes in the South India, recollect the incidents in Karnataka involving Tejaswi Surya, Annamalai in T.N , Raja Singh in Telangana and Pawan Kalyan in A P. Slowly the virus of communalism has spread to the South India also.

Men are getting shorter in height but surprisingly indian girls are showing increased height as compared to 15-20 yrs back female height data.

60 to 70% girls post 15 yrs age now are between 5-4 to 5-6 that's a surprising increase from 5-0 to 5-3 a decade back.

As long as we've laws criminalising hurting someone's feelings, till we don't have proper freedom of speech we can't expect the society to grow up & become mature. Looks like journalists here are forgetting nda govt is there for only last 10 to 12 years 65 years the people who rule ,never seen on the chair where they should be asked proper questions. And now when india and indians are trying finding these real ground some people are just consistent in defaming present regime.

The reason no country is backing India in this war is due to everyone does not believe Pakistan had anything to do with the Pahalgam Attack is due to India did not provide any evidence and India rejected an international investigation on the Pahalgam Attack. Is it because you have something to hide? How can the most militarized zone in the world be so easily infiltrated by Pakistani terrorists? And why did no action taken for the first few days?
And what about today when one of the BJP MP insulted widows of the victims of Pahalgam attack as reported in India Today news media?
Sending a delegation to other countries to explain Operation Sindoor is bloody pathetic and only shows how India is trying to convince other countries of India's justification of attacking Pakistan without evidence. It is rather pathetic really and very childish.

We are a flawed democracy? Democracy is a sham given how the "duffers" aren't informed, or shrewd, or intelligent enough to choose the right leader. Our options are limited given how we have to choose between two bad options. I'm sure BJP is pretty shit and I detest the "Jai Shri Ram" sloganeering and passionate marching on the roads of Delhi, but I don't think Congress is any better either. And I do strongly believe that Rahul Gandhi is inadequate, sycophant like (kisses western ass. case in point- the stunt he pulled at Harvard), and I won't be able to either trust or feel safe under the leadership of such a man. I think maybe for your next book Avay you can highlight the challenges of humans who are not duffer but struggle with choice deficit.
