Two B-52 strategic bombers arrive in foggy England for a deployment to the European theatre. One declared an emergency, prompting fire trucks to respond.
The B-52 Stratofortress bombers arrived in Europe on November 5th for Bomber Task Force 25-1. The first arrived in England after flying from Louisiana while the second flew a training mission in Finland with the Finnish Air Force, The bomber declared an emergency before safely landing at RAF Fairford to be met by the US Air Force Fire Department as a standard precaution. This may have been due to a fuel emergency, or an issue with the drag chute, but has not been confirmed.
Both B-52s featured are with the 2nd Bomb Wing, Air Force Global Strike Command at Barksdale Air Force Base. The B-52 Stratofortress has been in service with the US Air Force since 1952, and is expected to still be flying in 2050. The latest variant, the B-52H, went into military service in 1961.
