Cars Lose Control & Crash Into Semi Trucks & Truck Drivers Are Always At Fault

Trip planning. Some of us never have to park on the shoulder. 🤷

Be fore E logs came out like about a few months i parked I 30 in Arkansas on a ramp . I got a ticket for $530
The officer didn’t say a word
He just said drivers licence . Walked away comes back gives me the ticket
I said where you want us to park ? I said you’ve seen nothing yet wait until E logs come the ramps will be full
The other thing I want to say . Any trucks parking on the shoulder for their 30 min break on the interstate your CRAZY !!
It’s completely STUPID and a HUGE HAZARD to all vehicles
It’s up to you to pace it out properly and stop running your 8 hour break to the last minute and then stop on the shoulder of the interstate
People are not all paying attention on the highway at times and that’s their liability .
But for the trucker it’s your liability 150% for a FOOLISH decision
On ramps leave Marker lights on trailer when at night
Many of us know our roads and ramps that are a good choice to park for our 10 hrs
Just remember some excuses are just plain self inflecting reasons
But my biggest complaint is interstate shoulders for their 30 break
It’s sad in this industry today because we don’t really work together anymore as truckers .
The blood line of our Name Professional Truck Drivers is long gone
Only the few left out here that are old school in what Truckers are has slowly died off
For me pounding pavement for over 30 yrs it’s just memories of those great yrs of CB’s and drivers helping drivers in situations
I know there’s more trucks on the road today and yah new generations of drivers only seeing the dung today out here
But it’s still us out here as drivers moving freight
And yes more company’s about making money cutting prices pushing more anger attitude into us based on getting money
But for as drivers who are out here we can still try and keep our thoughts toward each other as let’s not attack each other based on what company’s might try to do to us
I know it’s tough out here but we still can make a good choice toward each other I mean it’s our integrity as truckers
I know todays attitude out here is get the FK out of the way
Manual transmission made you think more in your driving conditions
But auto today no thinking just hit the breaks and let the transmission figure it out for you
Lots has changed I know that but we can still try to pull together and know this is our blood line our Profession hauling freight for North Americans
Whether people even understand or not . We as truckers !
We can hold the Integrity of the bloodline it’s our choice

I said I blew a tire on the drives it took out my air bag all air bags are dumped . He pulled behind me and I said there’s a pilot 9 miles away with a tire shop I can sleep there until morning
He said I’ll drive behind you giving you more trailer lights
Since bags empty I’m weighing 78000 my truck is gonna feel like a tank over the road
So I had to go slow because I didn’t want to blow another tire because of the weight more stressful in the tires
35 mph for 9 miles and the driver offered his time and patients to help me out
We talked on the CB the 9 miles talking the old days and where we ran and talked about some of the truck stops we both had been to during our life
He was from Texas cattle hauler
We reached the truck stop bought him a coffee and pack of smokes
CB’s are good to those who still use them and offered a hand when they didn’t have to
He stayed behind me just to offer more lights because of my slow speed for safety

To everyone who is bitching about the parking on the ramps and screaming at the Federal Government.
It is the STATE who makes the parking rules!!!
Here’s a wild thought…. Get educated about your STATE laws and bills that get passed… instead of waiting to hear about it on the news…
Oh wait is it to INCONVENIENT to read about what effects you and the state uses YOUR TAXES??!!

Unfortunately we as professional drivers know of the risk of parking at the "entrance" of an off ramp to an exit or rest area. It's not safe. Yes we DO NOT have enough of parking. But a lot of these so called drivers do not preplan their day or adjust it as needed. As a professional driver you preplan your day the day before and adjust on the fly or as needed pending a whole bunch of different scenarios. As for paying for parking, I don't mind as long as I'm safe. I paid you. You are 100% responsible for the safety of all whom pay and their equipment. My belief but I think a damn good lawyer would also agree. You are paying for services. So anything that happens, ANYTHING, I'm going to hold your business accountable. That's seems to be the thing we've lost. We don't hold anyone accountable anymore. Just my opinions. Maybe some agree but a lot of you will be offended because you're soft and brainwashed. We need to go back to being a family and helping our fellow truckers male or female. The pride is gone and we are the backbone of America.

I just retired months ago 24years otr coast to coast border to border this was one over the major reasons I decided to retire no parking even when I ran at night only spot to get was at the fuel islands then all food choices was roller food all restaurants closed. So much for running at nite. The only people out at night are cops ,robbers ,truck drivers.

I used to park at the wild wild west it was free for 48 hours. Then when the new raiders stadium was going to start construction they started charging 15dollares a nite before they even started construction. Then 18 dollars. Then years later they tore down the casino now it's long term parking 😅

If i cant find parking sometimes im lucky there is a drop yard close by that i can park at mostly do that near large cities

The title says car slams into a semi truck but the picture has a car slammed into the semitrailer. No such thing as a semi truck people.

So, if a truck hits a parked car, can we force the same rules to apply? Yes we do (sometimes).

If the driver wasn't in a parking spot. If he was parked in the emergency lane, sleeping. Then it is his fault. Period. No he doesn't have to park theres. He chose to break the law. It is against the law to park on the side of the freeway.

I’m going out on a limb and say truck parking will probably not be a problem after 11/18/2024. 160,000 drivers will likely lose their class A license. Due to negligence of drivers responsibility to rectified drug and alcohol classes.

I agree with Marco. You also get cars parking in our spots and nothing happens to them. Why are they not ticketed for parking in truck spots. It’s BS!

Unfortunately in Virginia it’s illegal to park on any shoulders on ramps. The VA state troopers write tickets all the time for this.

I'm just lucky I make it to one of my terminals every night I'm not worried about parking I just sleep at the terminal every night.

Yep, I got hit 5 times by negligent motorists. All Non- Preventable on my end. All it did was bring heat on me from d.o.t. F the trucking industry. And the motoring public, They dont want safe roads, people dont want to care.

Why have i always found truck parking. I'm a 35 yr veteran in the trucking business going from coast to coast and in Canada to every state across America and Canada and have been able to part in truck stops and have had no issues. I get up at 1am and start my day, and I'm done by 4pm if I have to push. No matter what, I trip plan every trip and know where I can park and which truck stop in going to. I drive 35 to 38 hundred miles a week and recap most weeks. It is planning ur trip, and in today's trucking drivers, don't plan their trips they set a GPS and never look at a map and when some do there 30 minute break they stop on the shoulder of a major interstate or hwy and they will stop do there 10 hr break sleeping on a off ramp. I don't park, nor have I ever parked or slept in a rest area. I don't care where u are u can find parking if ur proactive and do take this job being a lazy Semi truck driver. A real driver can always find parking, but in today's trucking, there more steering wheel holders. I call them lazy drivers than ever before. It's because of computers and technology and because they have let everyone and anyone get a CDL and come out here being a know it all and think they can park and do anything they want however they want and that is simply not true. It's turned into a shit industry in many ways. 3 more yrs and this industry can kiss my ass because it's not fun anymore with all the bullshit from drivers, customers, stupid ignorant guards, and loud mouth cry, baby truckers. I was at a stop light , a car hit my trailor , I felt nothing , I seen the debris flying in my passenger side mirror .
So ,i got out , shure enough the car was under my trailor . They got the ticket .
But if I would of drove off , It would of been my fault .

It's the definition of irony. The one that usually gets blamed by the public and determined to be at fault in a lawsuit are the ONLY people (with the possible exception of Highway Patrol officers) on the road who are professionally trained to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. And regardless of whether a Carrier has deep pockets or not, the REAL reason for this is the same reason that a politician will fall all over his self to please a bunch of renters in a 200 unit apartment in a shitty part of town and ignore a middle class homeowner who pays a boatload of taxes and only wants somebody to come fill a pothole in front of his house is there's a couple hundred votes of one and only one of the other.
As long as there are more voters being allowed to drive that should not be allowed to leave their house than professional drivers it will always be this way. We need to maintain an attitude like bikers have and drive like everyone is out to kill you, cuz they are.

Again, it's an easy target for budget cuts cuz there is no lobbyist in the state capital for keeping rest areas open when the average voter might use one once every several years, or stop somewhere we can't.

What gets to me is when them RVs take up truck parking spots in the truck parking section at the rest areas 😒

Parking isn't the problem, it's the dumb people that don't want to park in the spots. Now days you have drivers who just park on the side of the freeway/ highway just for a break or whatever. Then they pull back onto the road without paying attention to the flow of traffic.

Think that ruling could be overturned in a higher court. Court room I would be saying take the truck out of the picture and put a 4wheeler. Then ask who would you blame??? If answer changes then make case for unfair trial targeting a group or party which should fall under miss trial.
