If you don't buy your own house at Halifax, the average rent is a bit higher than Toronto. The vacancy rate is 1%. You will know how hard it is while you search for a rental unit.
The cost of a decent house would cost around 600k. Anything below this would either cost you more or a lot of work need to be done after your purchase.
I am diving into the Halifax house market for almost 3 years. My suggestion would be not moving to Halifax if you are in Toronto.
The groceries, gas, power, oil and etc are expensive compared with Toronto

Please don’t. We do t want ANY MORE people, particularly people from Ontario. New Brunswick & PEI are MUCH better places to go. Please, please explore their beautiful areas as well.
