Heritage Open Day at The Horton Epsom 2021

On September 11th and 12th 2021, visitors were invited to a special preview of the new exhibition and to view renovation works to convert the former Horton Chapel into The Horton - a new venue for arts, heritage and events.
The weekend was part of the national Heritage Open Days festival.
The exhibition explores stories of people who lived and worked at Epsom's Hospital Cluster, including the Victorian asylums Horton, Long Grove, The Manor, West Park and St Ebbas - also known as Ewell Epileptic Colony.

The cluster of five hospitals over 1000 acres was the biggest in Europe and was know for pioneering work in Malaria Therapy, Music Therapy and employment initiatives for people with learning disabilities.
