The movies that you talked about are cliche ones so obviously it's unfair to say any film industry let alone bollywood sucks at representation. The point is not X industry sucks at women representation as it has a lot to do with lack of good and realistic stories. It's no longer seeing representation of women or inclusivity of different stories and characters considering there's so much diversity in one country. Lack of creativity results in characters being just a brand to bring people into theatres. So there's the "independent" girl who just drinks, parties, has affairs etc... is considered progressive and different. That's also where representation of women sucks too and the God awful feminist and women empowerment roles. Theres nothing in those role if story and performances sucks exactly like a girl in a commercial movie with couple of songs.
