Daria is the greatest thing to come out of Beavis and Butthead.

The teacher may have specified unemotionally because he is tired of the students pretending that they have such a strong response to an event they didn't live through to try to falsely demonstrate understanding. Also, you can have an opinion on how historical events played out, but emotional responses are better used as motivation to correct or benefit current events. History can cause strong emotions, but that shouldn't be allowed to change the facts of what happened.

I feel like you're gonna like this show. It's a thinker sometimes and that strikes me as something you'd enjoy. It starts out a tad rough but don't worry, it grows into itself. It was one of my favorites back in the day. I found Daria... relatable. I wasn't dry and quippy like her but I come from a religious and conservative family and community whose values contradicted my own. I never felt brave enough to be like Daria and voice my feelings and opinions - so I lived vicariously through Daria.

I remember hearing way back that The creator of Hey Arnold wanted to do a spin off of his show staring Helga in highschool, and I never looked into it too much, but the pushback was that the premise sounded too much like Daria to the executives, so it never came to be. I was too young to have seen Daria on MTV and I never got around to watching the show until now, so I assumed maybe they had a point. But now, just seeing the clips of the show show for the first time in your reviews, seeing how different her parents and Daria's own personality is from Helga, I don't see how those two shows would've been similar at all, aside the protags who happen to be cynical teenage girls. But their cynicism is also so tonally different...

Late to the conversation: the end credit montage, I always thought it was because they are supposed to be real actors depicting a drama, so those where the other side of the "actors". If you see the end credits of the first movie, you see the "bloopers".

Oh boy looks like I need to rewatch this series in full. When it aired I had like... 3-5 years of ESL under my belt so had to rely on the translated captions and definitely missed so many jokes because of that.

Her not trying during the sport is because it is PE class, so it isn't like she wants yo be playing the sport she is obligated to.

I’m in my 30’s and seen Daria during childhood because my mom liked it, saw it at teens, at mid 20’s & recently a few months ago and found the following:

I always liked Daria but Jane is just amazing
I wish i was as free as Trent but…
I see myself everyday it passes in Jake’s shoes, i have a good relationship with my dad but i find Jake’s neurosis and distraction really relatable

I wonder what i’m going to think in 5 years

It's so surreal since you were the Creator that really opened me up to Daria, and now it's one of my favorite series and now I'm seeing you and your first look into it, it makes me feel pretty appreciative on how media can unite others via experience
