I’m sure there’s a theological explanation for purgatory but the “real” reason purgatory exists is or at least was to fundraise for the church. You go to purgatory for a number of years to pay off the sins that you committed in life but the Catholic Church invented indulgences which was a way to pay to get years taken off your time in purgatory. To be fair, at first indulgences were meant to be good deeds which would take years off your time in purgatory but eventually it just became a way for the church to collect more money from people. One of the things that made Martin Luther split from the Catholic Church was the fact that the church had just recently issued a ton of indulgences to fund the rebuilding of St Peter’s Basilica because it was run down after not being maintained while the pope was chilling in France for a few centuries.

Man this series finale was so freaking emotional. Stefans scarifice was heartbreaking. I also can’t believe they had to destroy the Computer Room at the end.

I wonder how they are going to handle the GUN commander in Shadow Generations, story wise. Are they even going to include him? Or are they just going to retcon that part of Shadow's history? Honestly, I would prefer if they didn't include the GUN commander, as it just doesn't make any fucking sense. I'd rather they just focus on Shadow, Maria, Gerald, and I guess Black Doom.

Place for it? Have you forgotten what happened in Secret Rings and Black Knight? They have tackled serious issues. So I think it is well within reason for Sonic to tackle such a topic, just it wasn't really well explored in this game.
Also yeah, GUN would own the ARK. Thats like saying that the engineers at NASA own the rockets they make or that the people who made that giant particle accelerator in Europe. No, it belongs to the governments that funded those.

If you kill every black arms in the level, you can spend your hero gauge when it comes up, then you'll be at the checkpoint after the checkpoint after the blue orb with the pulley, so you can warp back, walk back, grab it, move forward, warp to your latest, then chaos control past the slow falling section.
