Rock Lee looked like a badass when he beat Naruto and Sasuke for the first time, but this scene gave me a lot more respect for him then any other character

At first, you think he's exaggerating on some "fake it till you make it" and "aim for the stars" type angle. Then you see him open the gates against Kisame and you realize he's pretty damn strong, only Kakashi's Mangekyou would be able to stop him.

Then you see him open the 8th gate and realize he was horribly underselling himself.

"that i am a loser and i will always be a loser!" Outta the entirety of the show this line stuck out to me bc even tho the world may beat you down nobody hits harder than the doubt you put on yaself.

I'll never forget watching this episode as a kid. Lee understood. He understood that no matter how hard Guy-sensei tried to make him feel better, lee knew the truth. He knew that no matter how hard he tried things would stay the same. He knew he wasnt blessed with more. Lee was the most relatable character in all of naruto and Lee vs Gaara was the point of no return for me. In the end lee taught me it didnt matter if you failed, because not trying and giving up is a lot worse. As long as you have someone, just one person, who's willing to believe in you thats all you need. My grandma passed away In august and she was my Guy-sensei. Its thanks to her I didnt quit when I failed. I was about 7-8 when this aired and this is still one of my favourite moments in all TV.

This is the best backstory in anime, I stand by that

my whole life since I was a kid I always said dragon ball was my favorite but thinking back it was this show that saved me no girlfriend,people disrespected me no one complimented me or encouraged me I lost and this show showed me the value of hardwork vs talent it showed me lee and naruto work hard get back up never give up and keep perserving after failure it showed me hinata vs neji it showed me lee vs garra it showed me naruto vs neji thinking back to those 2 after getting hit with the 64 and get back up it showed me naruto lose to his rival sasuke but him scratching his headband in proving him wrong I started working hard in highschool but this show gave me my willpower and hope in middle school and I perserved on my own no girlfriend or big brother and I kepted moving forward in those days and it was this show that showed me the way not dragon ball

Man for someone who only watches anime with Eng subs, This video has to be the best example of when an English dub is (almost) just as good as the Japanese voice actors.

Both of these voice actors nailed it.

I always thought Lee should have been the Mc sometimes he represents what early Naruto was trying to be like no clan no crazy powers and honestly I related to him since I have been working hard to be a better version of myself
