Curious on your thoughts on use of harmonic exciters to make software to sound more alive like and hardware like? I tend to reach for Audio Thing Type A and Type B quite often. Also good for that "insta-cut-thru-mix" magic.

Butch Vig Drums is a slept-on champ. It's super flavorful.

First time viewer here, it’s always nice to check what plugins others use… I already noticed few ones I haven’t checked yet. Here’s one of my recommendation for you. For searching drums files, if you’re like me with hundreds of thousands files, t’s hard to find something quickly, even with the name file. So I recommend XO from XLN Audio. I’m not affiliate with them, I just like this plugin I recommend to anyone that still scroll through file list. XO scan all your folder(s) and then organize your files as a “cloud” you can easily navigate. You can easily pick something, find alternative, try to build some drum pattern, tweak the sound on the fly, etc… it’s very useful and creative. You should definitely check it out, I’m positive it could help you (from what I’ve seen on this video). I bought couple years ago during the lockdown, I think it was during a sale for Christmas or Black Friday, I don’t remember, but I think it was around 50 bucks…

Hi Miles, please your thoughts on omnisphere…. i already own serum, diva, v9 collection, native komplete ultimate. Omnisphere become overkill or its a complement? Also have sub37 and rev2 witch are in the omnisphere list of integration

Check out Plugin Alliance Vertigo VSM3 saturator and distortion plugin on your sequential oberheim synths, to me it sounds like magic, even better then the blackbox and decapitator that I find better for the Moog synths.

Take a look at Generate. An excellent synth with a different character. Cherry Audio’s new Atomika synth is excellent. You might like the plugins from Slate and Ash. What about Rhodes type VSTs? Filterverse from Polyverse looks really cool too.

I prefer hardware full stop. Only reason I get vsts are for the acoustic cinematic scoring orchestral stuff, and boy thats a big mess. At least hardware synths are updated and is easier to fix issues. A lot of digital vsts like omnisphere and serum look like they are easy to use and have no issues, like nothing can replace them. Trying to replicate acoustic is even harder than trying to replicate analog.

Cramit is a better version of OTT, you should check it out if you have the chance.

You should get the Plugmon skin for Diva it really updates the synth and adds quality of life to it. It's well worth the price

Curious if you've ever checked out the SWAM instruments from Audio Modeling - I use them with my bands - I don't think anything can touch them in the solo orchestral instruments. Would love to see you review them.

Love the MaagEQ! I even use it to cut sometimes! If you don’t have UAD Apollo then Plugin Alliance version is the one to grab: i even think the PA version gives UAD’s a run for its money🔥
