✝️ _“People know where to mine silver and how to refine gold. They know where to dig iron from the earth and how to smelt copper from rock . . . But do people know where to find wisdom? Where can they find understanding? . . . God alone understands the way to wisdom; he knows where it can be found, . . . And this is what he says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.”_ excerpts from Job 28, New Living Translation
The North Cascades has an extensive history of mining, including areas surrounding Mount Baker. From the late 1800's, miners scouted the area and created trails anywhere they thought they might find valuable minerals. Some privately owned mines in the North Cascades are still active today.
There is an abandoned gold mine (Gargett) near the base of Mount Larrabee and is accessed from the High Pass trail which begins at Twin Lakes. Walking these old miners' trails reminds me of the Bible verse above found in Job 28. Since the beginning of time, humans have been in search of gold, but how much more important it is to find Wisdom.
