I am so impressed by how quickly you get into your stride doing this series. You improved so quickly that even before you get past half of season 1, you already seem to have found your confidence.

bunnies seem like they're really good at making a year's harvest minuscule, so one being a sign of doom (famine specifically) does make enough sense.

My favorite thing in this episode is Aang fighting the volcano and winning decisively. It shows that the knowledge of how Roku died and the lessons learned from that have been carried forward in the Avatar cycle to mean that Aang could do it without even needing the Avatar State.

Sings of a volcano about to pop off are new gas pockets, more, or stronger earthquakes the ground around it can start swelling, and new or stronger hot zones appearing. Most active volcanos do just have lava big chilling in them, some even have constant streams of lava coming out of them Aang really shouldn't be able to tale the volcano is about to go off, since most of those you need prior info on how the volcano was before he showed up.

Sokka is such a homie, Aangs like hey want to climb a massive, dangerous mountain with me to grab a flower so i can give it to your sister, and dude is like sure why not. Dude is just down to do whatever.

I'm a fan of the idea that Aang's knowledge of volcanoes comes from Roku and he just doesn't realize it. Either that or maybe he saw some with Kuzon. Either way I think it's cool.

I know you have a lot of opinions some people disagree with, but one thing I think we can all agree on is that turkey duck sounds AMAZING

this is genuinely my favorite episode of Avatar.

Honestly, this is my least favorite episode. More so than even The Great Divide. Everyone is really annoyingly stupid in the town, and there's way too much focus on the Aang/Katara romance that I always felt was really uncomfortable and weird.

Shouldn't the guy that gifted the panda Lily have seen the volcano full of hot goo?
Or did it erupt because Aang dropped the flower in it, and I guess organic material (or is it just anything and not necessarily organic) dropped in magma will cause it to start reacting or something?

When I first watched this episode as a kid I had never heard the term floosey before, but just based on the context I understood it enough to question if they could say that in a kids show lol.

Meng calling Katara a floosy is one of the craziest lines in any cartoon and I love it.

interesting fact but meng, the girl with the pig tails is voiced by tophs va, this is her first appeareance in the show before toph.
