Hi Tomo hope ur well, just looking over yet another one of your U tube videos amazing , I have now been with your guitar wisdom for 3 month and already see an improvement in my playing and knowledge more than I have achieved over many years of playing wish I had found you years ago looking forward to what’s to come. Thank you so much , Best wishes Steve🎸
Ответитьthanks for the simple advice i need it lol heheh ur awesome sensei Tomo!! hearts!!!
ОтветитьTomo! can you tell what pedal you're using to improvise with yourself? Could really use something like that
ОтветитьSo intimidating watching this gentleman…….playing 11 years and I feel like I don’t even know where to start……..help!
ОтветитьAnyone knows other way how to identify key by ear. For me, minor sounds like sad, and major sounds happy.
Ответить“Chasing the shape” summarized the rut.
ОтветитьExcellent lesson, Tomo! One thing I notice a LOT is that nobody ever talks about repeating notes! Repeating notes while using different rhythms can be very effective! Love your lessons!
ОтветитьHi Tomo san, I just found your tutorial recently and I couldn't get rid of your tutorial.
7 years ago I gave up on playing guitar and now just picking up my own guitar, play some triads and having fun.
I hope I'm understanding correctly, are you suggesting not to just improvise using popular major/minor pentatonic or major scales or scales in general but rather arpeggios from chord inversions from the chords being played ? I really want to understand, thanks.
ОтветитьYou remind me so much of my childhood teacher, it fills my hear with joy to be alive in a time where I can get such wonderful knowledge from such an amazing musician. This video has a lot of great info I am going to use to try and play over Deal by Grateful Dead more seamlessly. Thanks Tomo!
ОтветитьI think you need more guitars. ;-)
ОтветитьI’ve been playing 52 years and I enjoy listening to your videos. Still so much to learn and keep in mind. Thank you for doing what you do, great stuff.
ОтветитьGreat!
Ответитьsounds great
ОтветитьAs a lead player my biggest challenge has been to switch from "scale exercises" mode to "melodic phrasing" mode. When I spend all my time only running through scale shapes finding my way around the fretboard I loose the the skill of choosing notes selectively and purposefully to flow with the underlying composition. Lately I've been spending more time focusing on finding the harmony notes in the scale to create melodic passages instead.
Ответитьyou end your bends a little flat
ОтветитьI suffer from Eagleitis- inflammation of the eagle. Where every song sounds like Hotel California and all abstract art reminds me of my psychiatrist having sex with my mother. Thanks Tomo
ОтветитьHey Tomo, another guitar player here: is there anyway I could get in contact with you? I do watch some of your yt videos but I was wondering so that I could ask like questions. I’m pretty stuck with where I’m at.
At the moment I want to work more on my technique, melodic/harmonic playing, rhythm, as well as singing and ear training. Any tips would be appreciated!
Rock that Mr. Music T-shirt, Tomo! Best shop in Boston!!
ОтветитьYou are truly an asset to guitarist community all over the world. Very lucky to watch your videos.
ОтветитьFocusing on triads chord theory is a much better start to melody than pentatonic positions
ОтветитьThank you SO VERY MUCH for all you teach and share - Tomo , you are surely a MASTER player and I absolutely am inspired by everything you teach 🎸🎸👍✌️🙂
ОтветитьYou need to make "Shut up and practice" t-shirts. Thanks for a great lesson. I like the Be kind to yourself a lot, but sometimes you just need to go do stuff.
ОтветитьHello Tomo , thanks our Dear to make of this videos that I just discover, that is really nice and helpful for everyone. Here, on this videos, you did something that just blown my mind , the first 2 minutes, that sort of easy approach which resume in one or two licks onr after the other the way we can have to approach a lead guitar, make colors, or linking ideas together. That s just perfect and gave me a total new direction to write, organise, archive idea/technique on a simple loop rhythmic. My Dear, if you can go in one other video the same way to show how, by theorie, we can approach and resume all this differents laws/ modes in a simple licks, one after one, that would be amazing! God.bless you and thanks for all this work and sharing mate !!
ОтветитьOh wow! I was immediately able to play a solo across this chord progression when watching this video! Arigato for this lightbulb moment Sensei! 🙂
ОтветитьYour a great teacher Tomo.
Ответитьreminds me of Hoetell Calipornia
Ответитьgreat teaching! Very well done... Easy attitude of yours, too. Stay safe, bro!
ОтветитьIs that the same chord progression as hotel california?
ОтветитьGreat lesson. I've been stumbling onto all these pieces but now I want to be more intentional about learning and applying them and the hearing and playing from the heart ❤️
ОтветитьGood grief this was a really good reminder. Need to stop thinking about shapes myself…. Very nice lesson. Thank you @TomoFujitaMusic
Ответитьyou're very helpful for me a first time guitarist well half a year
Ответитьfor some reason i expected you to burst through the cataclysm
ОтветитьLet people just noodle around, and let be people just be OK guitarist, noodling is meditation.
Ответить"The problem is you're chasing shapes " ! This right away is so true and such a simple and obvious truth too. Probably more than I'm aware of! That slightly frustrating feeling of "this just doesn't seem musical or freely improvised, it seems boring and predictable " there's no magic, but there must be ways and approaches that can change one's "ear" and playing.
ОтветитьYes Tomo! I've always loved Bm on acoustic and Electric!
ОтветитьTomo! Your Gold Guitar, name on the Head stock looks like it says "Keaggy"? But funny that my first electric guitar, man was that thing cheap!!! warped neck.was A Telstar...... same Gold color.... Great lesson!!!
ОтветитьKept waiting for the Hotel California solo kick in.
ОтветитьThank you, Master. You are great teacher ❤
ОтветитьIm enjoying every second here❤❤🥹
ОтветитьThe crying bends reminded me of Roy Buchanan.
ОтветитьThis guy would be helpdful if I could tell what he's doing. He doesn't like tab, but doesn't show what the heck chord he's playing, and plays some of them oddly, like with onr finger coverning two strings. Just show the darn tab once for each chord, darn it, or say what you're playing, or get a camera angle that doesn't have your fist in the way of where your fingers are fretting. I can replay as much or as little as I need to, but darn it you never show what chord you are playing and how you are playing it. You just keep playing them and saying their names in a heavy accent. Very very frustrating. His advice seems so useful and simple, but for playing over the chord changes, START BY SHOWING THE CHORDS!!! When he plays Bminor it looks like he's missing a finger on the 9th fret. He keeps saying A flat 7th but never shows how to play it. Can't tell by looking at his left hand, maybe he is using his pinkie? Then he keeps calling A7th A flat 7th but this doesn't look like A flat, I think he's trying to say to flat the 7th, and the nornal name for that is A minor 7th, about the easiest chord to play. But that doesn't look like what he's playing, it looks like he's playing A major 7th but he never says either. I give up, it would sure help if he spoke english or showed diagrams or explained the fingering. He keeps saying "flat 7" so I guess he means A major 7th...I wish he'd use the correct name. So he says "you have to know the chords and a litte theory behind" but doesn't try to show them?
ОтветитьAwesome Intro dude 😂 wondeful.
ОтветитьFantastic video. Great teacher. Good sense of humor.
ОтветитьGreat video! What guitar are you playing?
ОтветитьThanks Tomo!
ОтветитьNo wonder I can not find a Musicmaster bass amp. Tomo bought all of them! 😎
ОтветитьVery nice!
ОтветитьTasty Flavor is an acquired asset. It can take a short time for some folks and longer for others. Theory has little to do with great guitar skills in my humble opinion. Thank you for your videos Sir.
Ответитьmajor arpeggio played a minor 3rd above a m7 chord is pretty dope.
Ответить
