I like this change. Too many off centered cards graded a 10. The centering is the main eye appeal. Also they need to crack down on surface dimples. Too many 10’s with awful dimples.

I feel like this will end up being a disastrous decision for PSA in the long run. A new standard is a great way to devalue and discredit everything you've previously graded. I smell a class action lawsuit in the near future against PSA by anyone who has ever submitted a card prior to this change. I think many graders will switch to other companies like BGS and TAG (although TAG has an uphill battle since its reputation is reliant upon AI grading which will make 10s hard to come by) and they could possibly take a good chunk of the market from PSA. TAG could become the new go to for PCs, but AI will hamper them from ever being the industry leader. If BGS decides to grade softer and give more 10s it will easily become the new industry leader, and PSA will fall by the wayside. All BGS has to do is put out a statement saying that all previous BGS 9.5s can be reholstered as a BGS Standard 10, they keep their pristine 10 designation and black label designation, and they are instantly the new industry leader with their flat rate pricing model for all cards. People want 10s. They don't care what they look like as long as they say 10. It’s sad, but true. PSA understood that for the longest time which is why they reigned supreme. "Grader Discretion" has always been in their verbiage so that PSA could give more gem mints on modern cards that realistically weren't deserving of a 10, which allowed them to maintain their stranglehold on the market. Now that PSA has significantly reduced the amount of borderline 10s and undeserving 10s, people will gradually stop submitting and look for other companies like BGS. If BGS wanted to make a move to dominate the market, now is their time. One thing many people here don't realize is that much of the harsher grading has started since PSA's partnership with GameStop that I believe began in October of 2024. It seemed like a soft buildup to the actual change in verbiage on their website, so my thought is that GameStop might have put a lot of pressure on PSA to adhere to more of the industry standard and PSA in their eagerness for the partnership agreed. We all know that PSA has seen a huge influx of cards and are horribly backed up right now. This is because of their partnership with GameStop which is causing a ridiculous amount of mainly Pokémon cards to flood their offices. I talked to my local GameStop and they say that they send off well over 200 cards a week. Extrapolate that by thousands of GameStop stores. With this partnership, PSA basically removed all barriers of entry for the average TCG collector, as you can send in even a single card with GameStop, which is why they are currently flooded. With their new verbiage, PSA has basically declared that they are in such control of the industry that they can do whatever they please. This is untrue. Like much of the world right now, social media influencers control the card grading world. Influencers, like the people in this video decide where the average collector grades their cards, not PSA. They also decided which companies deserve premiums on their graded cards. If influencers all decide to go to TAG we will all go to TAG, if they decide to go to GCG, we will follow. If BGS plays this right, influencers will start grading with BGS and we will follow. Companies are not in control of any market anymore. Social media influencers are. I will say that the reputation of the BGS 10 is very solid in both the TCG and sports card world and 10s already have a higher premium than PSA 10s. I don’t think it’s out of the question to see a major shakeup in the grading world as people have become more and more angry with PSA. Only time will tell.

PSA has been putting gem 10s on flawed cards for years bc they were the only company using 60/40 for a 10... with companies like Arena and ISA moving up the charts on amounts graded and them doing 55/45 PSA switched to the same standards... I personally think that is proof that they HAVE NOT BEEN THE TRUE GOLDEN STANDARD... people meed to stop hating on these other companies that have been doing it right long before PSA... PUT SOME RESPECT ON THEIR SLABS TOO!!!!! TOO MANY HATERS IN THIS HOBBY

In my view, the most relevant data is the number of submissions to PSA. If they continue to maintain or increase their dominance in the grading market, then it doesn't matter if they're being fair or what effect it might have on other parts of the hobby. Their business is to get people to send cards for grading. One perspective is that maybe they'll lose business if people are less likely or more selective in sending in cards to them. Another way of looking at it is the more tens go out, the more money is spent on the secondary market as tens bring in way more money than nines. Maybe they feel that some of that money that is going towards buying tens might instead come to them. Just some thoughts.

I mean this is the biggest joke the market is Far Over saturated with PSA 9s like the old cards of the 70s and 80s with that being said everyone always asks how come the cards are never centered when they buy them especially with today's technology versus old technology. Are you buying it from Bloomingdales or Saks Fifth Avenue or TJ Maxx😊 play wanted to make sense for the grading companies to be able to grade cards because shouldn't all cards come out tens if they're opened carefully. Follow the money it's a joke everybody's going to have Ben's of PSA 9 for $10 just to get rid of them as well as we know that they work with the card companies because grading companies and card companies make money together if each card is made correctly what does the Grading Company do? Oh just to make sure you're not buying imitation on line companies like eBay guarantee their product so waste of money

So tired of color chasing unless the photo on the card is different. Nothing more boring and less inspiring than seeing a row of the same photo only separated by different colors or a print run.

Some of these cards have like 20 variations of the same photo. Yaaaay.

I have a PSA 10 Jerome Walton rookie!! Worth a lot to me but nobody else probably lol. I have tons of unused ‘80s checklists somewhere. I still have my ‘89 Topps Gregg Jefderies in hard cases, he’s the next Mickey Mantle. It’s gonna go up.

PSA 10… how long do you all think it will take for people to acknowledge and pay higher for PSA 10s? Transition period will probably take a while.

Ai will do the grading because they are unbiased. The whole grading system is a joke and they charge people like 3times or more to grade the card in 3 months when it used to be a few weeks. I was in the group that helped their company grow during the late 90s and on. Beckett was right there with them rep wise up until around 2014-15 and they pulled away by basically giving fair consistent grades and it started to change when Covid came along. The raised prices and made turn around times a complete ripoff. I would grade with them if they fixed some of these self made problems and fixed their grading which again is their fault. I have cards that I pulled out and thought it had a great chance for a ten. I get an eight on a perfect card basically. I remember when they needed a certain group of reliable people to help them build up their brand. You would get a standard amount of tens if you broke set cases or similar and now you have no idea what you are going to get. You don’t even know if whoever is grading it has more experience overall than you or just a fraction of it. It’s just become a joke and not fun with these long turn around times so I’ll wait until something better comes along. It will especially with this happening they sold psa for 900 million I believe when they paid 1 million for that holder which had a patent on it. So without the initial people like me grading 25k cards per month for years and you got to know the graders and how the graded. They even let you resend cards that were undergraded for no charge and maybe 10-15% was changed because it was still hard back in the late 90s to 2010-2014. The hobby is going to change because of their own greed and people forget who was there in the beginning and psa was not different than nsa and pga etc

So sick of grading. I’m done with it. The only way to fix this issue is to somehow have AI or a robot grade cards the exact same way every time! A psa grader could easily have a bad day and decide to give you a 9 instead of a 10. Recently cracked a psa 8 and sent it back in and it ended up getting a 10…. Makes no sense at all!

The fact that you can have PSA open a pack and a card that's never been touched can grade as a PSA 8 is really odd. I have 4 Rickey Henderson rookies- the fact that who grades them can swing the value of that pack by $725,000 is absolutely ridiculous. Its a really bad system given the value difference and $$ involved.

No shit, tell us something we don't know. The Derek Jeter SP is a perfect example. That card receives so few 10's compared TO EVERY OTHER rookie in that same set it's ridiculous. It's a scam. I get it, that if there were a lot of 10's a card isn't worth as much, but PSA grades a player not the card, it's mathematical proof. The REAL PROBLEM is a card that is a 9, it's probably a 10 and the grader just said NAH or the higher ups say NAH
