No star ocean second story?😟😟

bg3 has been a weird one for me in the best way possible. never been a fan of the idea of turn based combat, and my only two experiences with it (both south park games), i felt it actively detracted from my overall enjoyment of the games. i have no experience or knowledge whatsoever with dnd nor previous bg games and always felt it too overwhelming to get into. yet somehow i found myself jumping into the third game in a series i’ve never played, based in dnd, with turn based combat, and only 12 hours in im seeing this potentially be my favourite game of all time. it’s definitely game of the year for me if it keeps up. but my god is it ever overwhelming to get a grasp of. the overwhelming variety of choice and consequence, the depth of combat and lack of hand-holding in its regard, the deep quests, it’s all a lot all at once and it’s one of the best feelings i’ve had from a game ever.

starfield over ff16 is crazy to me

The writing in BG3 is something else, in my first playthrough, I had romanced Lae'zel and it was such an experience, seeing her develop, slowly becoming more caring and more introspective, when you watch the sunrise with her, and when she denounces Vla'kith "Better a short life built on truth than immortality woven of lies" my heart just melted.

1. Baldur's Gate 3
2. Resident Evil 4 remake
3/4 Allen Wake II & Dead Space remake....hard to chose between them
5. Octopath Traveller 2
6. Marvels Spiderman 2
7. Final Fantasy XVI

I played more games but those are the ones that really stood out for me in 2023.

my top 10 is mostly the same but starfield and star wars ? I don't understand. I'll add the finals and battlebit as multiplayer games.

I bought baldurs gate 3 and I was scared I’ve got a family make a normal income so I can’t buy every new game that comes out but baldurs gate was perfect. I have a new born baby and I thought the combat was gonna be ass because of the turn based stuff but when I’m in the middle of a crazy encounter and everything stop and my family needs me I can come right back too it without missing a beat. The story the characters everything was perfect I am 25 hours in just finished the first goblin camp was getting wrecked by the 3 bosses ( im a souls player) so I was just beating my head against the wall I didn’t realize anything I thought about doing I could do essentially. When this clicked in my brain I loaded my save 3 times and did the same camp 3 times lol. I love this game.

This is a good list. BG3 is like the first hundred floor building when everyone else had been making 10 floor ones. It's such a huge achievement.

I’ve been playing video games since I’m 4 years old and I’m 33 now. BG3 is my new favorite game of all time.

I really enjoyed Battlebit last year even though it isn’t as popular rn 😢

I wish I could actually play a game like Lies of P but Souls likes are just worthless to me they are a waste of money and time because I will never be able to finish them....hand arthritis will prevent the 'get gud' advice from ever working from all the elitist aholes.

BG3 and Octopath 2 are incredible experiences

The way you described Lies of P made me decide to buy after im done with bg3 next year...

Morrowind is still bethesda's peak and its main story is a lot better than starfield.

BG3 is one of the greatest games ever made, will be celebrated for decades to come

Fire emblem 3houses and South Park stick of truth made me love the turn based style and bg3 turns the combat to a whole notha leva haha the game is amazing 💯 definitely guna give dos2 a try now

The only other game that made me play multiple play throughs was Detroit become human that was was amazing so made endings 💯

Too many turn based combat games for me. Only Deadspace, Starfield and Star wars on you list were any good to me.

The ultimate game; a game that plays itself! Beating the game is what it is all about. Octopath Traveler 2 is a great rpg, that's for sure!
