Maybe because Pride and prejudice the BBC series gets repeated so much in the UK that's why the fashion from bridgerton seems so normal or u become desensitised to the beauty. Thank you for reminding me ❤

"Beautiful and elaborate features", polite way of saying breasts. Those features are on quite the display as they would have been in the Regency Era.

I absolutely LOVED Penelope's season 3 dresses, especially the dark green one she wears to the one ball, it was so pretty

I just love Bridgerton. But let’s be real… it isn’t known for its historical accuracy. The best part of the show in that regard, is the sets and locations, props and decor. They take a lot of liberties with clothing and accessories. And even more liberties with speech and manners. But it is a well done romantic drama SET in a loose time period and with a cast and events loosely based on historical events.

That sucks that the actors are allowed to take at least one of the ballgowns home with them, that’s usually one of the perks I would assume.

It seems ironic in today's society, new money flaunts, and old money is quiet. Quiet luxury vs. Louis Vuitton, Channel, etc.

I'm surprised you didn't recognize the other meanings of Kate's intense medium jewel tone dresses. The Sharmas come from Bombay, where Lady Mary fled with her new husband and young stepdaughter after her parents' brutal rejection, and accentuate that cultural background, translated into the social world of Queen Charlotte's London. Just like the Indian cosmetics and unguents shown during the Sharmas' pre-wedding traditions, the gorgeous turquoise, violet, and teal colours imply their sourcing in the dyes current in India, and announce their pride in who they really are with colors nobody else wore, or could have worn so well. Kate's gowns are never loud or grating like the Featheringtons', but rather elegant and striking in their unusual medium saturation and hue. The visual message is the gorgeous colors of the eastern subcontinent-- with all its varied royalties-- imported to the cut of English fashion and setting off the glowing loveliness of Kate's skin.

I never read the books, but I'm OBSESSED with the show. Based on watching the characters play out and their on-screen chemistries, i REALLY REALLY wish Eloise and Cressida were lesbians & in love with each other. Cressida doesn't seem to get on with anyone but Eloise, and Eloise seems sooooo uninterested in men.

Why would the dresses be accurate to the era when the entire show inaccurate? Bridgerton is a Regency Era set in an alternate universe, a Bridgerton "What If," like Star Trek. Nothing has to be the same, it is a whole other world, they can make it as they like. And I'm pretty sure it is this way on purpose.

It's gorgeous costuming but it ain't Regency. The dresses remind me of late 1960s prom gowns.

Purple is a mourning color in Regency England, so Lady Danbury wearing purple immediately after her husband’s death doesn’t necessarily signify her joy. It could just be pointing out that there’s been a death in the family.
