First step we need. Agreement on how to spell organization!

I hope this year brings some dashboard quality of life improvements and better control/support for media players. Having a native remote card or something with good controls would be great. Same goes for multiform audio

As a new HA user who's still debugging stuff, I'd like to see Devices on the toolbar, rather than the current maze of clicks to get there.

HA automations kinda already places automation into some order.. going to setting/zones and then selecting a zone all the automations for those devices in that area are listed

Granular control of usere would be great! In general, I'd love to see a more "advanced" user control. As an example to help you understand what i mean by "advanced"... Being able to connect Home Assistant to an identity provider for SSO (without using the command line option obviously) and therefore syncronize users with an external provider, would be great... I mean I know this sounds a little bit too much but... Yeah, i have a dream 😂

I’d like to see a more graphical automation creator like Node Red built in and a little more intuitive, much like that in the new Homey Pro. That’s the only thing that looks attractive in Homey vs HA.

My extra “want” is better ability to edit, backup and restore entity history, especially for the energy dashboard

As a newbie to HA... easier "just click a button and it detects everything" functionality

I can deal with logging into shit, but I need it to find what's on my network and perform some config for me. I have some smart tech but it just doesn't find any of it

Automation organization by labels would be amazing and is on my dream list. Growing off your granular control section, I would love a good way of having a guest user quickly be able to jump in to a simple dashboard. A UI upgade I've been hoping for for years is a refresh of the sidebar, being able to put things as a submenu or something would be amazing.

As for the last point, not only new user roles, HA needs a complete RBAC. It's nonsense anyone can see everybody's location, for example. Dashboards are only "hide" from users, but they can access them if they get the url... security in HA it's a real mess.

Llama is far too big to even hope using it locally, try to look at Mistral AI instead, it's a new open source model, only a 7B so small enough to run on consumer grade hardware, but still very promising, already beating GPT 3.5 in a lot of tasks and their new version, only available with API for now, beat GPT 4 IN CODE ! and they are also launching their own API service if you don't want to buy a 2000€ GPU to run it yourself, and the price per token is something like 2€ for 1 million tokens

Is they anything on the market that will emulate the the stock Rf thermostat without having to replace it whilst still using home assistant. Hope it make sense

I want a way to "call" or "message" the voice Assistant using a software based solution, like mumble (open source, self-hostable VoIP software) for voice and IRC,xmpp, mattermost or email for text or matrix for both

Imagine "calling"(joining a voice channel) your home assistant, talking, and getting a response, all without needing to expose your hass/network to the internet
I pay about $5/month for a linode server, and it's hosting both my website, and xmpp+mumble

Now, I've almost managed to set up something like that (mumble) on a raspberry pi running the assist-satelite(wyoming-satelite and local wakeword detection), I just haven't managed to route assists audio in(mic), to mumbles audio out (speaker)
And the other way around, and once I do, it will be a huge bodge

Honestly I'd like to see the text ones as things you can add to your automations too, you shouldn't need assist to react to simple commands,

Neural networks are gonna be essential for real smart homes.
As it's common in this age we're using terms way ahead of their times: we don't have smart homes, right now we're making (at most) autmatic homes.
There is nothing intrisicly smart in voice comands nor automations.
Smartness is about adaptability.
We'll enter the real smart home field when something will be able to read and ponder all our little devices, and orchestrate everything based on us without the need for automations nor anything else.

I'm currently using a custom repository "extended openai conversation" which allows use of open AI and controls smart home devices. I can combine commands and it's pretty intuitive on not using the exact phrasing which is nice.

My last step is to build a LLMs to keep everything local. This way you just point it to an internal website as the cloud solution requires an API key and you only get a limited number of API calls, this keeps it all local. Combined with SpotCast I can already do a lot of what you want nabu casa to create

I would like to see them release a version that can somewhat learn your voice locally and ignore background noise similar to how Google and Alexa work but that may require cloud resources, to accomplish, especially on a raspberry pi.

So you can get a complete local chat GPT like setup now, there are videos on how to set it up. You will always need some external source for news or weather in a different country though as it has to get that current data from somewhere

I'm using an add-on that uses a USB conference speakerphone and works with wake words similar to the video you did on rhasspy a year or so ago. .

If Home Assistant came out with their own smart speaker that had full native HA support (including media playback, wake word detection, quality speakers), that would sell out so quick. I know I would buy one for each room

Dynamic Local Timer for voice assistant!

Node Red sentence can trigger a flow and they add a response voice assistant node so the voice triggering a question and dynamically create an answer opposed to currently in Node Red the sentence node has a fixed response.

Would love to see more granular control over profiles. I want to put HA on my kid’s phone for viewing cams outside and light control for their room and common areas. Locking them down to a dashboard I made just for them would be great. Fingers crossed it comes soon.
