Great vid as always, Fenton, shame the 86 has been discontinued over here in the UK 💔. Greetings from across the pond
ОтветитьIts a nice platform
The only thing this car is missing is a 9000rpm k24 engine 👌🏻🤷🏻♂️
It would be like a new s2000😊
Nice thorough review
ОтветитьIs the s2000 more whimsical than this BRZ?
Ответитьwould really love to see a successor to this but with some toyota power & no more subaru flat 4 farts
ОтветитьI pick up my new BRZ Ts this coming Tuesday. I truly cannot wait.
ОтветитьGreat car power just very lacking. No reason to trade my 9th gen si for.this.if it has the same power if not a bit less
ОтветитьBRZ GR's only calling card is suspension. manual experience is lacking, steering is just okay and the engine is okay. Miata is just so much more value imo
ОтветитьLow speed fun is such an underrated feature that most performance cars ignore these days. My 2017 86 was a joy to drive around town with the great steering and manual, especial after replacing the OEM trans fluid with Motul 300.
Hearing about the steering downgrade and rev hang kills the 2nd gen for me.
Why didn’t Toyota partner with Honda for the drivetrain on this car? The second you rev it out the reaction is “oh.” And not in a good way.
ОтветитьReady to be tracked just don’t turn right ha ha 40 K out the door for this Econo car is too much money. I believe this and miata starting under 30 K of sweet spot. I was going to buy a new Miata and they wanted something like 3334 out the door when I paid 30 K out the door three years earlier hard pass.
ОтветитьGrade vid. Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but I read that the reason for the rev hang in this car at lower speeds is that that is when the port injection is operating. The ECU keeps the revs up to prevent unburned fuel from getting through to the exhaust. When you are pushing the car and are not experiencing the rev hang, it’s because the direct injection is operating and therefore fuel is being burned that much quicker after it’s injected. This is why the ND does not need to have rev hang tuned in for emissions purposes. Maybe someone will find this interesting. I owned a GR 86 for a year and noticed the same thing you did. Definitely not a dealbreaker because it’s not an issue when pushing the car when you care about it most.
ОтветитьThe day Toyota distances themselves from trash Subaru and puts a Toyota engine is the day these cars will be moderately ok
ОтветитьIt’s pretty much the perfect modern street racer from Japan 🇯🇵
ОтветитьAwesome review Fenton! That seems like a nice car. I just wish it was more powerful.
ОтветитьWhy do Americans say “A” great value? It’s just “great value” (?)
ОтветитьReally enjoy your reviews, especially that you are mentioning about steering feel of each car. Is there any way to improve it in the GR86/BRZ?
ОтветитьI 'get' the whole ethos behind this and the GT86.
It was just up against such strong competition, and was neither an MX5 competitor, nor a rival for something like an M2.
It needed to be much lighter, like Lotus Elise weight, and more simple, OR much more powerful, to find it's place.
I hardly see any of them on the road here in the UK, but see dozens of MX5's daily, and a fair few M2's.
not a drivers car if it has rev hang and you cant smoothly change shifts from gas and clutch
Ответить"....Subaru eyesight", which actually sucks......
Ответитьim still thinking brz ts or the premium gr86
ОтветитьIt’s not worth the 4k+ plus over regular for Brembo brakes, badging, eye sight, and suspension bits.
ОтветитьThis or an ND3 for second car (track/canyon)?
ОтветитьPretty car. Will the "ts" make it a collectable car?
ОтветитьCurious, have you driven a Nismo 370Z or 350Z yet? Interested in what you think of the dynamics.
ОтветитьEveryone talks about the sound of the engine, I think it sounds pretty awesome.
ОтветитьShoulda just shoved a camry engine in these it woulda been fine.
ОтветитьBrown Deborah Davis Thomas Walker Edward
ОтветитьAppreciate the review. Thanks 👍🏾
