As someone who played when this card first came out yeah everyone hated it and was calling for its ban back then too

I feel like a lot of floodgate supporters don't realize how they're used. They're not stopping combo decks, they're being used by them to ensure only they are allowed to combo, and how are you going to break a board if a card says you're not even allowed to play half your hand?

I hope they don't ban this card on duel links 😅

I liked Abyss Dweller in my old rogue Shark deck on Nexus. Whenever I went first, it was sort of good to have on the board, but it was usually one of two first things that got taken out (the other was Toadally Awesome). I understand the ban now, but back then(which was like 2-3 years ago), it wasn’t that broken from my experience.

I get the complains but never found the card an issue enough to think it was ban worthy.

When I did play Ryzeal for a bit, summoning this was never as good as Detonator.

I love using this card in master duel. destroys tear, snake eyes and fiendsmith

I could see it coming back.

This and smorgh being banned is criminal. While one deck may abuse it others heavily rely on it when you’re summoning 3-4 monsters with Omni negates & when removed from field transform into other powerhouses.

Don't use graveyard effect decks?

Crazy how this card is unbanned in MD right now and Ryzeal is slowing creeping its way to MD. I use it with my FS Vaalmonica and it shuts down a sizeable number of decks in the current meta, sometimes they immediately just scoop.

Dweller is not banned in Duel Links, but Ishizu Tear is not heard of in that game

For this card specifically yes 100% to generic and helps going first "you dont get to play the game" decks more than it helps provide counters to toxic BS.

And it's still legal on duel links 😅

Bruh this card did absolutely nothing. It keeps not only meta decks in check but also low to the ground rouge decks. I’ve used this card of years and it’s an easy card to get around. It might shit down the graveyard for 1 turn but there are other cards that are worse.

I find it funny that players complain about flood gates but dont have any issue with having multi negates on the field. Either way your not summoning anything if its going to get negated. Yugioh its not about who has the highest attack or defense. Its about who has the better effects. I just stick to casual and edison format. when it was actually fun.

This always felt like a necessary measure to keep the GY from feeling like a second Hand. Getting rid of Dweller keeps the ghosts alive. Decks should not be leaning into the GY as much as it is, and Dweller has been the gatekeeper of that.

It was only good against GY heavy decks and in some instances didn't see as much play as it did this format

What’s the problem with floodgates? Lets rouge decks be slightly competitive and the amount of omni negates would likely prevent or stop the flood gate. I don’t understand the issue.

As a magic player, its kind of funny seeing what is banned in YGO and why. Graveyard is also a big resource in magic, but shutting it off isnt an effect anyone would consider ban worthy, even the hardest reanimate decks.
