I don't think I've seen any modern game that looks that appealing to me, they all just seem to look generic.

Man, I've had the pleasure and the privilege of playing games since the nes, snes, master system, sega genesis, up to... today... and i never felt more disgusted, more tired of all the current crap, than with this generation.
It's been les after lies. Triple A studios make 0 efforts, 0 games, and only rely on GaaS, always online call filled with microtransactions, loot boxes, etc.
Sony had promised 'ohhh, digital games so cost much less, because no more stores, no more warehouses, no more printed manuals and boxes, etc etc....
... meanwhile, games on the psn cost even more than physical ones.
Shit, a title like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, released in june 2021, still costs... FULL FUKIN PRICE on the psn. Gta5, released a century ago, still costs like 50 or 60 bucks on the psn. Even old call of duty titles from the ps4 era, still cost close to full price.
What the fuk is all this greed ?
With the ps3, we had 64 free titles a year, with ps+. All +90 metacritic. Today, with ps+, we only get shitty indie games, and whenever there is a so-called 'big' game, it is some kind of GaaS, always online crap, with tons of in-game crap and dlcs, for sale: they make those games pseudo 'free', but they're nothing but a lure, to have people play the game and end up spending 50 or 100 bucks on dlcs, skins, etc.
When kutaragi was the #1 at Playstation, they would take risks, would build the most powerful system as possible, so gamers could go home with a future proof piece of hardware, like the amazing ps3... and Sony would also invest in all kinds of games, genres, family stuff, play/ create/ share stuff like little big planet, etc etc.
Then, mark cerny replaced kutaragi, for the ps4, and sony's motto became 'let's build the cheapest console as possible, like nintendo, so we can start making money since day 1, with each unit sold'... and so we got the piece of shit called ps4, that probably didn't even cost Sony 200 bucks, that they sold at 399...

Lies, les and more lies. They annonce a new little big game, but no longer has the create/ share. They don't want to make a days gone 2, even though days gone sold close to 10 million copies. So lame.
Then, sony announced at their investors conference that they were gonna focus on mobile and GaaS crap, that nobody wants.
Also, they release a fantastic ps vita (so got over 900 titles, in such short time), they go full greed with their $120+ proprietary memory cards... and of of nowhere, they stop advertising the system... and simply murder it. Hadn't they killed it, today, that shit would still be kicking ass, and there would be +4000 titles available for it, and tens and tens of new franchises.

And yes, the moment they stopped the E3 conference, it was over. People would wait 12 months, wouldn't even sleep, just to watch the new amazing projects that studios were working on. Then, bam, they killed it.

If that wasn't enough, Sony kept releasing ps5 games... also on the ps4. They lied to us, saying the ps4 wasn't holding back the ps5... which of course was a huge BS.
Imagine there's a meeting, about the new project. One senior dev says 'ohh, thanks to the ps5 power and memory, or next game will be able to handle a map 100 square miles big. That's amazing".
Then, one guy says 'hey, we remind you, our next game will also be released on the ps4, huh".
And the dev replies "ohh, you see, the ps4 can only handle a map 30 square miles big, because if it's limitations".
And the chief decides 'ok, let's make a game with a 30 square mile map, so the ps4 can also handle it"

So YES, it is OBVIOUS that the ps4 is holding back the ps5 ! A ps5 can load 10 gigas of game assets, textures, etc, in 2 seconds, while the ps4 would require 1 or 2 minutes to load half of that. Without the ps4, ps5 games would be 2 times bigger and better, at least.

Yes, the older generations, we had tons and tons of fantastic titles. Today, a studio will barely release 1 game, during an entire generation. The ps5 was released like 4 years ago, and which bangers have we got ?

And if that wasn't enough, now, all super heroes and males protagonists are being replaced by ugly chicks that look 100% like men, minus the beard.
Almost 100% of the titles are always online crap filled with microtransactions.

Yes, sony and the ps4/ps5 slowly killed all the pleasure.
In the last 3-4 years, i went from buying 1 game every month, to buying 1 game ... every year.
I refuse to give my money to sony, and this industry in general.
That's why I've been playing hundreds of free ps3/ps4 titles i got from ps+, for 0 bucks, and I've been playing older games on older systems. Just had a blast replaying the portable god of war versions + god of war 1 +2.

Yes, you are right to move to PC. There are far more options, and unlike on ps5, you don't need to choose between average looking, dynamically upscaled graphics at 30fps, or ugly compressed graphics, at 45-50fps.

One of the biggest things for me was the online subscription garbage in the year 2024 I buy a mp game and then the only way to play that game is if I pay for PlayStation Plus which is an astronomical price.

This is why I’m gonna switch to pc gaming…I’ll be a slow transition, but it’ll be worth it.

I rather jump ship into greener pastures than to stick around on the rusty wrecked ship. In other words, SCREW THESE TOASTER AND FRIDGE CONSOLES!

As a sidenote: I’m even gonna invest a portable PC handheld someday.

Small the storage sure was for the ps4 which I never get why they would have such a small storage for the ps4 which I remember playing on the game cube and PlayStation 2.
And playstation 3 you would be able to put as many games you want and not worrying to delete some of your games in order to play that game but with the ps4 I just hate
Having to delete some games in order to play that a newer video game! which I did know that they replace the 500gb with a 1tb storage but even with that storage for the ps4.
It is still too small! even if you get so much games that can still take up all of that storage from that 1tb! and games now are getting too big nowadays which it is a problem
When games are getting too big even if you have a gaming console that has such a very limit storage which it sure makes me miss when you could put as many games you want.
And not having to delete games but also I never like on how the ps4 lacks backwards compatibility for you to play the older playstation games which I remember the times before
At school I got told by a classmate that the ps4 can play ps3 games which I was like oh cool it can play ps3 games! :D which it was the time I got home to get on my ps4.
To put in a physical ps3 game I have but only to see the box saying Unsupported disc and press the button just to see the message saying Cannot play PlayStation 3 format disc
Which I was basically lied to! which I was so disappointed that the ps4 didn't have no backwards compatibility for you to play physical ps3 games on your ps4...

That’s why 8th gen is where I tapped out and started my retro gaming era the landscape overall is trash and I personally don’t want any part of it the investors and frame rate fairies can have it.

My main complaint is there is really no such thing as exclusive games anymore other than the first party. Even the first parties are releasing those games on the previous generation when they should just let those consoles die peacefully.

PS5 will be amazing once Sony abandons it and pirates take over.

With the free games on Epic and the ones complimentary with Prime, on Pc, I don't see any point in owning a console anymore. Not to mention the Steam library.
I even went from hating/being doubtful to embracing cloud gaming/remote play. Even on a mediocre fiber I noticed that games run well, with minor hiccups here and there. I don't play multiplayer games, so the input lag is not a big issue to me.

Huh according to GeForce, God of War 2018 2080Ti barely hits 60fps at 1440p and requires DLSS to get there (and had issues on launch)... but enjoy your PC ports, the cost of that 4070 and 64Gb of RAM (why?) and I'm sure those Anime FTP games (or worse yet a Dragonball game that costs $70... AWFUL) will look great!

For the differential cost of the power your current system is using monthly compared to a PS5 you can get PS+ Extra and get all the games you are spending $20 on as a part of the service and play them with the actual haptic feedback and 3D audio the PS5 is bringing including online play that isn't ripe with cheaters.

If you need a PC for other things, by all means it is a far better option especially on tight budget when you only play a few games a year, but this generation of consoles is still a great value and much better today than 10 years ago as the library grows.

This generation is just a ps4/xb1 that is faster

The only modern console worth owning is the PS4 Pro since it still got a great library and it's still getting games that are only downgraded a bit visually when compared to the PS5.
Plus if it's jailbroken you can add more PS1 and PS2 games to your library, classics like Simpsons Hit & Run, GTA LCS and VCS, Silent Hill 1, Gran Turismo 2, Tekken 3, etc.

I like many others here have all of the 9th gen consoles. I can say however that when the 10th gen decides to release the only one of the Big 3 i will be getting will be the new switch. Over the past few years ive concentrated more on 7th gen and below and have had alot more fun than with the current gen.

So your argument is the ps5 is “awful” because the games on the console are stopping being exclusives, which has nothing to do with the console, that’s Sonys decision and you think it’s “awful” is because games are expensive and take too long in development, most games on PlayStation are like 20 40$ only a few go up to 50 60 70$ and the games that are taking seven years to develop has nothing to do with the PlayStation, that’s Sony or another gaming company. Then this video at the end starts to become a gaming pc review.

I agree. I sold my new XBOX because I don't want to have to create an account and be connected to wifi just to play. I have an XBOX 360 and a PS3 now, with DDR , Guitar Hero, and around 40 games for each console. Im having so much more fun, now. There's even good rock music on these games.

I find myself going to back to my PS3 more and more. Instead of getting next gen I’m probably going to pick up a 360 next. The PS4–PS5 catalogue is weak. This chase for insane graphics isn’t worth it.

And I don't need to fumble around with setups like a PC monkey. I can play it all from earliest clunky shit like the Atari 2600 to the latest novelty. I don't see what your problems are. And maybe that is when I look into the mirror I don't have to bear seeing your mug. Think about that poor boy.
