I watched Brooklyn Nine Nine before seeing Ace Ventura and vagyely remembered the line Jake says about the movie only getting overtly transphobic towards the end. And as I watched the movie with my partner because they liked it (future trans woman, funnily enough) I figured it out a little before the reveal and just turned to them and said, "No, no, that cannot be the plot of this movie." Was so uncomfortable the entire back end. 😢

I think y'all need a trip to Gaza or Donbass. You would realize that a funny scene from an old movie isn't that bad, compared to your house being bombed. Haha i just stumbled across this and its hilarious, i sat throught is i wanted to give it a chance and see if it raosed any valid points, but i was wrong.
1st off, it's just a movie, and a comedy movie at that, crude, very silly and very successful withing its genre.
but if we're to take it in a serious way, then why are we not highlighting the fact that a trans person was dishonest and therefore sexually assaults men.
Is that not more of an issue here? You can't have a guy pretending to be a woman (no matter how convincing they may be) forcing themselves on straight men, amd then crying about how said straight men react upon discovery?

This video is weird for many reasons and I am not talking about the movie

I saw this movie with my family when I was ten or eleven, and no, I didn't understand the ending. I thought what was in her pants was poop, that's how ignorant I was. We never watched it together again after that lmao.

I was around 8 when I first watched this movie with my cousin (I know, way, way too young to watch this shit, but my cousin was really into it, and we were best friends.) Me, being a dumb stupid child, didn't know what a trans woman was, and thought the ending joke was that Ace was actually wrong, and Einhorn was a biological female. I thought that was actually a really funny joke, and until now, I didn't know what the actual joke was. It's really gross, looking back at it now. I really wished the joke was that he misinterpreted the whole thing, and she was biologically a woman. It would still be gross, perverted, and transphobic, but... slightly less, I guess.

I'd love to see you cover Some Like It Hot with Jack Lemon and Marilyn Monroe, it would be really interesting to hear your perspective on it!

Yup, i watched this film alot of as KID. It was a 'kids' film. Liked it at the time but even back then it came across as ... dodgy/weird?/illogical? Even if it didn't have all the bigotry it's weirdly sexual for a 'kids' film with alot of plot points revolving about things kids - hopefully - don't understand (i sure didn't - hernia? what's that?).
Most of it's problems are in one 20 minute segment. I kind of wish those scenes were destroyed and it was re-edited with a Poochie-like ending. [Cue card: And then Finkle appeared and said 'AHA Einhorn was a hitman i hired - the whole time! no further questions' ~ THE END]

I… can only assume you’re joking at nobody knowing The Crying Game, given that the scene in Ace Ventura and Family Guy were definitely both exaggerated homages to the crying in the shower scene. Not that it excuses Ace Ventura or anything. I am glad that I saw Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls long before the original, though. It recycles most of the jokes from the original but without the transphobic stuff, and while it might be a bit questionable on its portrayal of African tribes, it does make the colonial Brit and white Australians the actual bad guys.
