ОтветитьThe Royal Navy ARE very, very good!
ОтветитьI am capable of making lots of money based on my education
ОтветитьOutstanding movie, all involved should be rightly proud of their work, Russell Crowe plays his part brilliantly.
ОтветитьDuring the Napoleonic wars the French aimed to kill our men. The English aimed to disable their ships. The reasons were simple. The French wanted to stop us from shooting at them. We wanted to steal their ships. The French ships were far better made than ours but we sailed and fought them better.
ОтветитьHim screaming, “Fire as she bears” is one of my favorite movie moments.
ОтветитьFor England home and the prize
ОтветитьGod save the King
ОтветитьI would’ve followed Lucky Jack to the end!
ОтветитьEnemies
ОтветитьFun fact: in the book, the action takes place in 1812, not 1805. And "Ocheron" is a complete copy of the american "Constitution", but since the movie was mainly focused for american audiences had to go to such tricks (watching a british ship sink an american ship as an american would be a strange experience). But they kept the american origins of "Ocheron".
ОтветитьLET FLY!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧💂🏻

Ответить“zstop now! Zis is yourze last vwarwing!”- Captain of the Acheron 1805
ОтветитьBest nautical movie ever
Best Russell Crowe movie
Best movie of 2003, even better than Return of the King
I really wanted a cutaway of russel crowe and some french guy playing an over dramatized version of the battleship game.
ОтветитьRIP Main Mast
ОтветитьCabin
ОтветитьFabulous movie. Fabulous.
ОтветитьI fart in your general direction....
ОтветитьGreat movie, but I never understood why they needed to switch to the cannons on the other side, when the ship was circling around the crippled Acheron.
ОтветитьCannon firing without recoil. A mast falling without dragging the ship's head round. This totally unrealistic rubbish disappointed me so much.
ОтветитьWhen ships were made out of wood, men were made out of steel.
ОтветитьLiterally 0 chance that wouldve gone that well for the british. That french ship was just as ready to return fire but returned basically nothing
Ответить"Hard a-larboard" and he immediately turns to port.
ОтветитьSuper film super ship 👍👍
ОтветитьThat a machine
ОтветитьThis clip alone is much better than the movie Napoleon(2023)
ОтветитьNeed the Battle of trafalgar
ОтветитьLet's hear a Hoozah for Lucky Jack
ОтветитьI shout "Let Fly" every time I use the urinal now.
ОтветитьThose were the days.
ОтветитьMoral of the story: you do NOT want to get stern raked
ОтветитьMakes .e proud to be English... Again!!!
ОтветитьCredit to the crew of the Acheron, despite the complete surprise they did get off a few cannon shots of their own.
ОтветитьI always thought the scene with the cannon doors opening one after the other was so iconic. It just looked super cool and was a harbinger of what was impending. Though I do wonder why during the first engagement the shots bounced off the hull, and in this later one, then did massive damage to it with the same guns. They were somewhat closer but still in pistol shot range both times.
Is there a reason for it or is it just one of those movie things?
the famous pirate edward teach (Blackbeard) had his main ship - his flag ship that was about the same size as this royal navy ship (300 man crew). that was in the early 1700s (1718) so a lot earlier than this film which is set early 1800s. It was originally a French navy warship but when Blackbeard captured it it was being used as a slave ship which made it much easier to capture. He only had it for about 9 months before he intentionally ran it aground in shallow water. A lot of people say he did this because 1. the later statements from some of blackbeards crew and 2. to get rid of some of the crew to reduce the amount of split of loot and 3. to move to a smaller ship to get away because he heard of a royal navy fleet heading to the area to hunt pirates. but it has to be said how much of a badass he must have been. he had 100s of men under his command with no country backing him to demand discipline. When his ship queen annes revenge wreck was confirmed as found it had cannons from many different countries so he took all the best guns from other ships he captured and pimped out his flag ship. No valuables like gold, silver etc were found on the ship since the pirates moved all the valuables to their smaller ships before sinking it. The reason piracy declined was for a few major reasons - there was a lot more recruitment into countries navies reducing unemployed sailors who would have taken to piracy and navy's sent A LOT more ships and much more advanced and well trained mariners to the east of America and Caribbean to protect merchant ships and the UK offered official pardons to any pirates who surrendered before a certain date. it is an interesting read what Blackbeard's actions were while he was active since they were pretty well documented due to his distinctive look, his notoriety for not killing sailors on the ships he captured (instead either letting them go or marooning them thereby getting their stories) and official logs of officials from governors of towns in that area and ships logs of navy captains that engaged or chased him. He got caught off guard when he got killed but still put up a big fight.
ОтветитьNo drones, no smartphones, just men enjoying their moment on the ocean.
ОтветитьI was sent here for subwoofer workouts!
