I like the aesthetic of bag charms, they are fun, but I looked at what is on offer and I couldn’t find anything that resonates with me. I don’t want to put a random bag charm on my bag just because it’s trending right now.

i'm only 28 but i remember as a little kid how much effort my parents and grandparents put into making photo albums. it wasnt even for specific special events, just us existing & growing up. my parents were awful people but the idea is very sweet & it is so special to look back on my siblings childhood pictures.

it makes me sad realizing that as much as we have ease of access to photographing everything in an instant, in general, it seems our culture doesn't make photo albums that much anymore. hearing them described as a coffee table book was kind of a jarring realization of what kind you specifically meant lol

Have we all got collective amnesia or something??? Cow print was trending during lockdown and now where are all the cowprint pieces? In the damn landfills, is where they are. Please be mindful of what you buy and the trends that you indulge in!!! I do however think that leopard print is pretty timeless, same with snakeskin print. Tiger, zebra and cow print however? Absolutely not.

Saying leopard is a neutral started as a p take because some many people wear it. I’m talking years ago. For me camo is a “neutral” for the same reason.

my current 'in' is taking two months to find a brown t-shirt I like. I've wanted one for ages, but rather than going for the first one I see, I'm taking time to see what other designs I like. And that's inspired by your content!!!

One of the reasons the barn coat is a banger is tje durability. I don’t think it will be something that falls out of style, but will fall out of trend. I see it as a coat to wear for many years to come - which is sustainable.

I agree with you somewhat on the bag charms take. I see what you mean about how manufactured it can all seem.
I've been alternative for more than half my life now, so having bag charms is just something I've always done. I'm also in the anime community so again, this is not new for me. To see bag charms get really popular and become a super mainstream thing is kinda weird lmao but at least some people are enjoying themselves.

The bitten nail trend reminds me of the anorexia with twiggy trend. It's the leave no stone unturned theory of marketing. Why leave neurosis out selling? Or perhaps they are trying to normalize the neurosis that already exists as we try to buy our way into hippieness. The barn coat trend feels like cosplaying working people for the rich and stylish.

On the washing sweater part.
1. I always wear long sleeve tops or t-shirts that cover my arm pits for sweaters I don't wanna wash frequently. So they can absorb most of the sweat and can be washed easily.
2. Is there a difference in the American top loading machine? Because all of the side loading machines I know, in my country, have a hand wash/wool setting that is very gentle to the clothing.

Never liked the cow print. The connotation of wearing a very recognizable skin of an animal, and the one whose name is used as a pejorative at that, makes me uncomfortable.

If you ever do find a debobbler I'd appreciate a recommendation! I'm in the same handwashing boat for a lot of jumpers and removing them one at a time is just too much.

Debobblers are the best, especially the newer versions. I had one years ago and it didn't do the greatest job so I donated it, but I bought a new one about a year or two ago and it does a great job. Just be careful, make sure you have the garment on a flat surface and stretched out well or you can have it grab the garment and chew a hole in it. 🙄👀(yes, I did this.)

I rarely ever hand wash clothes, despite half my wardrobe saying so. Cold water gentle cycle, put them in with other 'hand wash' items of like colors to save water and then hang/lay flat to dry depending on instruction. It's worked absolutely fine this way and even my fast fashion brand items have lasted a long time. The one thing you really need to pay attention to is dye warnings. If I have a label that states dyes could run, I wash those alone once or twice first. Also having mesh bags for bras, and other specialty items that benefit from not being jostled as much helps too. Save your sanity. Let the machines do the work.

Honestly I’ve loved leopard print since I was literally born so it’s my ride or die!

However, I also think it’s annoying the way it trends in and out because I feel like people who resonate with that fierce, bold look have always been on the animal print wave.

Like we don’t need it to be trendy to enjoy it—in that way, it is timeless ❤

I love the idea of using embroidery to mend holes in your clothing. Also timestamps on photos should come back (like the old film camera days). It’s so hard to remember the time when you took a photo of something without checking the metadata.

The chewed nails/chipped nail polish thing is too much. I like nice sturdy pieces that look "worn" (that's part of why I love thrifting), but the nails is taking the idea too far. It also feels weirdly... infantilizing? I feels like a reach, but given the record of the industry, I can't help that feeling.

Coffee table books are so cool! I thought the Chanel book was dumb because it makes people look desperate. But a book with photos of your special moments? Please! It is such a cool idea and has the added cuteness of offering to share those special memories with your guests because the book is just there in the coffee table, inviting people to open it.

I think a traditional leopard print only works as a neutral for "high-contrast" people, were the hair contrasts the skin a lot, because it's a very busy print and usually warm toned. People with low contrast or blond or (dark)blond hair could maybe wear a "washed-out" or cool-toned leopard print, but even then it can really overwhelm them. The "blond" people that I usually see wearing leopard print (generalisation here) dye their hair (platinum) blond, but they have very dark eyebrows and lashes, so they're high contrast originally with dark hair.

in my experience, the expensive knitwear i've bought (mostly secondhand because who can afford a $100 pair of gloves) doesn't pill, but the cheap polyester knitwear pills instantly. i totally understand wanting your clothes to last longer, but it's definitely worth getting quality knits!

I've had a Barbour wax jacket (secondhand) that is the barn coat silhouette, and a quilted version I bought a couple of years later, since I was an older teen. It's nice that it's trendy now but I'd definitely recommend getting them secondhand, choosing a silhouette that matches you, and fabric that fulfills a need for your closet. If not, use the one you have! My wax coat is my main rainy weather jacket. The quilted version is my main medium-cold (puffer not needed) weather jacket. But if you have something that suits all the needs a barn jacket could, don't waste your money - what you have is good enough! I've never liked leopard print but I love cow and snake print - have had pieces in both prints for many years. With how many clothes there are out there, nothing is really out of trend. I personally despise fringe but it's a classic to so many people and very trendy. Bc of how fast the trend cycle is, encouraging people to purchase secondhand and think about the role an item fulfills in their life is major imo. That's my trend. Lol

I like to pull color palettes from, like, fruit and flowers, but also food. Especially those super aesthetic pictures of their dishes that nice restaurants use, the super perfect photos of vineyards and orchards with fruit and whatnot that booze and food producers like to use for advertising, and those artfully arranged photos of their treatment rooms with the obligatory random plant in a vase that hotel spas put in their services menu.

I already know that at least one professional picture person has put in a lot of hours making those pictures look their absolute best and making all the colors look nice together, why not focus on those sources for decent color palette inspiration?

I’ve been wearing glasses since like 10 yrs old and god I’ve made some questionable choices until I found my style 🫣 (mostly looking like a librarian but in a nerdy preteen version)
My first large 70s-esque frames I got in 2017-ish (only 1 store had a couple of options) which lasted me until early 2024 (though they were barely holding on)
I was very anxious when I had to replace them earlier this year and did a lot of research, but found a lovely pair quite similar to my old ones (got photochromic lenses too, thought I would hate them but they’ve been a game changer, I don’t get headaches on sunny/ cloudy days anymore)
As a London/ UK girlie, if you’re looking for fun bold statement eyeglasses I highly recommend visiting Jimmy Fairly; very fun frames, amazing customer service and fair prices for the quality of the products ✨
