Very valuable data I've worked for 7 different NHS trusts as an IT support contractor this isn't about our health or convenience its about control as usual the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Trust me we'll be hearing about a huge data breach in time to come.

In the US, we've had all medical records digital for 20 yrs. At first it was not secure. I worked in medical billing & a small family practice. Receptionists had the same access to everyone's medical records as doctors. Everyone that lived in our county, not just our patients. They changed it later so that each user was restricted to what they needed for their job. I still don't like that a random doctor has access to all of my records, even though I'm not his patient.

Also, having worked in the medical field around many doctors, with access to new patient's full medical history before seeing them, they already have bias against the "difficult" patients or people with mental health diagnoses. They can see all the doctors & all the diagnoses you've had, so it defeats the purpose of getting a 2nd opinion. And it is unfortunately true that mental health diag. will prejudice people against patients.

Too little, too late. I know in the US, I've received at least 2 notifications that all of my information, including at least a portion of my medical records have already been hacked. I think I'm up to 5 notifications of data breaches with my various information in the last year. This week I was notified that my SSN was found on the dark web. As if money isn't tight enough right now, paying for help with data breaches is becoming another necessity. Technology is expensive and is as detrimental as it is beneficial. I had a doctor get a little upset with me because I wouldn't be part of a cancer study, but it's this crap that prevented me from doing it.

Apparently we could opt out and that's what I did however, would this make any difference - I doubt it. Nothing is secure on line and this government, I hate to say it are a liability just like the last, all wolves dressed up in sheep's clothing.

I think they want more control over our health in general, i could see them pushing drugs onto people as preventative medicine who didn't want to take it, and visa versa, not giving older people priority for treatments. It's all about control in the end.

It is so obvious that to run an efficient health service in this day and age the only way to do it is with digitised records and centralisation to avoid redundancy and data integrity problems. You have all of these people earnestly working out how to implement a functioning system of medical record keeping and the response is KONSPIRUSSSEEEE! These same people would be screaming blue murder about Auntie Gladys dying in an ambulance because important medical data was stuck in a cardboard folder somewhere.

What bothers me is who actually is the company that the NHS will use to store all our Data? Will The data be stored in the UK ?

A more robust digital system will be better, but come on, the more digital it is, the more open it is to hackers. They need to be following some crypto thing and look into how that is protected.
