I knew of him when I had just come out of school 1964. Those days media coverage was very limited. He was actually a tremendous person and lived the life of a real Christian. Glad I saw this video today. God Bless from South Africa.

God rest Paul's soul. He didn't give up. I love how the mother just made up her mind to create a legend and fed him accordingly. Well done.

I hate to break the bad news but lifting weights is only good for super short distance running, even so adding MASS never made anyone faster. Silly. Especially power lifting.. I'm former Washington St. Record holder for the 600m run, and current state record holder for deadlift at 160 pounds and the two activities just don't mix.

On that incredible Olympic lift, was that there was no momentum push at all...straight strength from a standing position....I remember Paul Anderson growing up....today strength lifters physiques are from from his...but he didn't need a physique, just faith....boom!

Why do people still lean on religion. Fuck me. Like sure, you can think what you want, but it was his genetics, nutrition and training that made him strong as fuck. Thing is, if he were atheist the commentator wouldn't go on a tirade about how the cosmic energies of the universe aligned to allow him to perform the lift. He just did it.

Jeremiah 9:23 Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
and let not the mighty man glory in his might,
let not the rich man glory in his riches;
24 but let him who glories glory in this,
that he understands and knows Me,
that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness,
justice, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these things I delight,
says the Lord.

Paul was strongest person ever. Won 1 Olympic gold medal. If he didnt turn professional to support his home for troubled youth Paul would have definitely won gold in 1960 & 1964 Olympics that would have given him 3 gold medals in a row. A feat that would never be matched. Greatest strong man of all.

I'm a distant relative of his. 7th cousin I've been told. A man named William Anderson and his family moved to Toccoa, Georgia in the 1830s and helped found the Antioch Baptist Church there. The Andersons were poor farmers or public works employees into the 20th Century. At some point my lineage and Paul's separated. My grandpa and grandma, Glenn and Inez Anderson came from Toccoa like Paul. They told my Dad about the Paul Anderson connection and that's how I know. I'm glad Paul did so many great things for this world and brought a good name to the people of Toccoa. I wish I could have met him or have a stronger lineage, but I'm thankful to have the same bloodline as this beautiful man. Rest in peace Paul, you deserve heaven.

Religion is a curse for humanity. It is responsible for more suffering than any other con ever devised. The fact that modern people still believe this nonsense is not only ridiculous but dangerous as well.

6270 lbs. is an awesome feat.
Sampson, in Gaza, ripped the town gates including two doors, two posts, and the bar keeping the doors closed, the stone lintel across the top out of the ground. The mechanisms Samson lifted would have easily weighed several hundred pounds (likely a huge underestimate) and were securely anchored to the earth. Many of the ancient gates were also covered with metal or at least reinforced with metal bands, yet he ripped those gates and all attached out of the ground where they were anchored in stone sockets as easily as taking a Sunday walk. And he carried them several miles away before he dropped them.

The force needed to rip the gates and everything attached to the ground, to the city walls would easily have exceeded 6270 lbs.

Yet, Paul lived as Sampson lived to the very end, a Hero for G-d!
