I'm really happy with how this slab turned out, and can't wait to build the rest of this shed!
ОтветитьNice work!!
ОтветитьMost beautiful slab I've seen :-)
Ответитьwhen you do you forms use veg oil as it releses better from the concrete the real stuff is called form oil
ОтветитьWhere do you live? I would think with a little deeper pour, additives, and a different rebar layout you could have skipped the reliefs and never worried about cracking.
ОтветитьGood video, one tip is to oil your form boards with used motor oil or vegetable cooking oil, helps release the board and gives you a clean edge
ОтветитьI like how you record mistakes and show how you deal with them.
ОтветитьGreat work. One comment, You didn’t need to wait 3 weeks for the concrete. 7 days is cured enough to put heavy vehicle traffic on it so a simple shed wouldn’t have hurt at all.
ОтветитьFor anyone doing this in your home: PULL YOUR PERMITS. I’m a realtor and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve met homeowners with violations on their property that ended up costing them tens of thousands of dollars and/or made it impossible to sell because they built a shed or garage without permits.
ОтветитьHow could that first wheelbarrow full be too dry? You got the concrete from a concrete company that (I would assume) used the correct amount of water to mix it. From what I've been reading (in preparation for my own job) is that concrete companies, as well as DIY'ers will commonly add too much water to the mix in order to make it easier to work with. But too much water just weakens the concrete. Maybe that first corner just wasn't compacted down enough??
ОтветитьI found this shed series because I was looking for tips on pouring a concrete slab. Your videos are really great and informative - very detailed, which I like! I especially like how you talk about mistakes you made along the way. It helps other DIYers like myself to know what to avoid. Thanks!
