I had a 3800+, went to a 4200+ from that and then to a 5000+ from that and then from those to an i7 920-D0. I feel old :( Actually think I still have some of these CPU's laying about somewhere.

Nice, still have an Epox EP-9NPA+ Sli board with paddle card lying around somewhere. It sports the Athlon64 4000+ with a Zalman CNPS7000b-cu cooler, two geforce 6800 Ultra's and 2gb of OCZ 'gold' plated ram sticks.

That PC is only missing a fantastic NZXT Puck to complete the lot!

My 4200+ was 2.2 so the 3800+ had to be lower.

I want to see gaming benchmarks on this gt 440 especially doom 4 and overwatch. Im not joking im serious.

I got a free Q6600 with 4GB RAM and a GT 550TI - that's a decent trashputer.
550TI was coupled with i7 2600K in a prebuilt PC. Funny how 550TI plays really well along with Q6600 in 1080p resolutions but HP decided to put it along with i7 2600K in their gaming prebuild config.

Get a athlon 6400+, 16gb ram, an SDD, gtx 750ti and Ubuntu and you'll have a solid system for about $120. I did once pair my system to a gtx970 that a friend let me borrow, and it did much better than I had imagined since the athlon is an oldy.

I got a red LED strip for 3$ Canadian on Amazon. Been working fine for me since I used it in my Q6700 system :p Why would you go with this system though? Why not something at least reasonably mainstream like an old i3 or fx. Could this thing even handle some of the stuff you wanna test it with? :p

good idea, I got a couple of $2 automotive LED strips to throw in mine, measured on a power supply first at 85mA 12V - sweet. One dead Asrock Z170 Extreem4  later....

Thanks so much for the channel... Question if you've got a sec. I've recently reviewed a number of benchmarks for 480 vs 1060 and as is I'm sure we'll known here, AMD driver support seems to have almost completely closed the gap from what was easily a double digits lead for the 1060.... My question ...(which I'm sure it's at least the 50th time you've been asked in the last ten minutes but I'm hoping you chose to answer mine since I bribed you with that GeForce g assist).... Is do you believe it's more likely for this tend to continue into the foreseeable future eventually masking the 480a better card for actual gaming??? I've ran both the xfx 480rs @1385 MHz, strix 480 around 1400 plus, and now have strix 1060 that pretty easily (in heaven and valley) keeps rock solid over 2ghz and seems to get amazing perf. gains from cram PC. My 1060 blows the 480s out of the water when oc'ing both cards at least in benchmarks... I guess I'm more worried about real world gaming though and heading thoughts on this. There were a few games (admittedly a couple were Gameworks) that the 1060 cleaned up on by 20%+.... But hardware unboxed shows almost no diff on average.... So a long winded way to ask..... When it comes to this....WHACHA THINKIN' ?????????? ;) THANKS GN !!! and any other thoughts that are kept in the realm of civility are welcome/appreciated.

I also have a single core AMD Athlon x64 +3800 2.2ghz sitting in my closet, and I can't install anything newer than Windows 7 on that PC since Win 8 and 10 complain about something this CPU does not support. I forget what it was off hand.

For a few more bucks i would have got a LGA775 motherboard and a Xeon with the $2 mod to basically make them a Q9650 and overclock it. Or at least get an dual core Opteron for the 939 motherboard. I had a 3200+ when i first built my 939 Craputer then upgraded asap when the Opteron came out. O.C.ed that to 2.9GHz.

This is much better PC from my last year 12yo athon 3200+, 2gb ram, HD3650 512 agp and win 7 pro !!!until it kind off blow up!!

I don't think a 3800+ was a '2004 part'; pretty sure I got my 3500+ in late 2005! (Google says 90 nm series of CPUs released in April, 2005...)

Trashputter should have been called Kevin after Kevin costners character in the body guard since the trashputter is a body guard to the other more pricey computers :)

Where are these review? I spend a lot of time on these sites and get all kinds of weird stuff from them, but it is always a crapshoot.

So DDR1 (must be Socket 939), Athlon64 3800+... More then decent for it's day - those socket 939 processors put much highlight into the extent of Intel's anti-competitive practices of the day. I know it's not relevant for it's use, but I'm still curious - VIA K8 series, nForce4, or one of the other chipsets of the day?

2 Questions: WHAT ARE THE OUT OF BOX THERMALS? Can it run Crysis?
