hahaha the tablet is interesting but the bit about "might make our calculations better" is utter bollocks. you know we have fractions, right? you can just write 1/3 it doesn't matter if it's infinite recurring, it's still 1/3rd. computers even use that in floating point maths. no one is going to base 60

Just coming back into fashion? It's used in engineering and architecture to this day. If you design a crankshaft, the figures would be an eyesore if we didn't use Babylonian system. And Nicola Tesla seemed to have a fetish for this system. He chose 60Hz for AC for reasons.

Pitágoras era maya y gigante, su nombre "Pita-Wara" pita, rojo y wara, guerrero. Guerrero rojo. Los mayas fundaron Sumeria y Babilonia, después de haber instruido a los Brahmanes en la India.

Of course, 1/4 has the exact decimal expansion 0.25. However, when Mansfield says that there are only two exact fractions in decimal, 1/5 and 1/2, I take it as simply meaning that those two are the only bases on which exact fractions in decimal rest, 2 and 5 being the only prime factors of 10. Base 60 adds the prime factor 3. So I disagree with Evelyn Lamb in Scientific American in characterizing this as outright dishonest; it's just an oversimplification in speech instead of writing.

Edit:after years this has nothing absolutely no impact, yet This is basically telling us that we are nt onlybgetting weaker physically but mently and logically the ancientq Babylonia's we're more intelligent than modern day

This explanation of Plympton 322 as a trigonometric table was proposed over a century ago. It's not new, and historians reject it.

Today's Iraqis are descendants of great civilizations like Sumer, Akad, Babylon, and Assyria. Which are considered a minority these days.
Somehow they started calling themselves Arabs, following the Islamic invasion in the 7th century. Why ???

Great discovery! However, it is a scientific fact that there was a great precataclysmic civilization... that means that they surely knew THE FUCKING BASICS in trigonometry.

Greeks know that they did not invent everything, they just managed to preserve knowledge and their ancient herritage.

Moreover, the tablet doesnt prove the theorem, it just verifies some analogies without any formula or something. Measuing sides of a triangle and recording them in a stone doesnt mean that you know the formula... DAaaaah captain obvious again...

Finally, base sixty, is not for any reason more preferable than base ten... this is a total unscientific bullshit. We have fractions for a reason. taking 10 and dividing by 3 leads to irrational number the same way as taking 60 and dividing by 9 or whatever... Someone with a phd to be called "Dr" should know about basic arithmetic....

It took thousands of years until civilization reaches Greece. Then whatever they learnt they claimed or other Europeans claimed is from them. Thats they culture. Just like when European went to America and Australia claimed they discovered them.

I always didn't like the approach we are heading to. It always looked too complicated for nothing. We are getting more and more materialistic as time passes on. They used abstract logic to solve problems too. Duality works...

Mathematicians from our current time are just stupid donkeys in comparison to such obvious genius as Babylonians, and probably most of ancient civilisations, as their buildings and other marvel founded prove it. It is not the first time, from far that such a discover crash our certitudes . How could so called scientists, never think to count in base Sixty for everything ? Professors and teachers, you still are so insignifiant !
