During Mental Health Awareness Month many people wonder how they can be more mental health inclusive or supportive. Many people in our communities struggle with issues that impact their mental health. Mental illness is more than the exaggerated portrayals we see on TV. It's the friends and families in our homes and communities. When I uploaded this video this morning I was not thinking we would be grieving the loss of Arlana Miller this evening. Unfortunately, Alarna Miller is the image we do not think of when with think of a person struggling to maintain good mental health. People had to get good at masking their symptoms of depression or anxiety because our society is not good at addressing mental health. Mental Health Awareness Month is a great time for people to learn to be a mental health ally, because a more inclusive and supportive environment can make a difference. a mental health ally is about more than just attending a mental health day event. People need to learn to be a safe space for. We need to educate people about accessing behavioral health resources and encourage and support them to get the help they need.
